Re: Round-By-Round - Kal Yafai (c) vs. Suguru Muranaka - May 13th 2017
I'm interested to see how Yafai does here. Was the guy he beat for the title just built for him, it was an easy night for Yafai, he wasn't pushed at all. How good is he really?

He's up against probably the 5th best guy at the weight in Japan... (Inoue, Ishida, Kono, Funai) would be a toss up between Muranaka and Eto or Nagamine...Neil Gee wrote:I'm interested to see how Yafai does here. Never heard or seen this Muranaka guy but I am expecting a typical Japanese boxer. Aggressive pressure fighter with no power. Should be an easy Yafai win.

That may be he Japanese fighter that is bought over as an opponent over here but with all the World champs they have I don't think you can say their fighters lack power.Tarkus wrote:Never heard or seen this Muranaka guy but I am expecting a typical Japanese boxer. Yafai 1-0. Hope this guy can take it into the later rounds.

Uchiyama and Miura are huge punchers too! Ioka is a solid puncher, Tanaka's a solid puncherNaandrew wrote:Naoya Inoue carries serious power in Yafais weight classjameswilson wrote:That may be he Japanese fighter that is bought over as an opponent over here but with all the World champs they have I don't think you can say their fighters lack power.Tarkus wrote:Never heard or seen this Muranaka guy but I am expecting a typical Japanese boxer. Muranaka isn't a puncher but his KO Vs Sakashita was STUNNING!

New generation of top Japanese fighters like Inoue, Ioka, Murata are different animals altogether. Those are boxer punchers and not a typical Japanese.Naandrew wrote:Naoya Inoue carries serious power in Yafais weight classjameswilson wrote:That may be he Japanese fighter that is bought over as an opponent over here but with all the World champs they have I don't think you can say their fighters lack power.Tarkus wrote:Never heard or seen this Muranaka guy but I am expecting a typical Japanese boxer. Yafai is shipping lot of punishment but he must watch out not to punch himself out. Another thing about these Japs is their never die attitute. This guy wont quit coming the whole night.

Muranaka finishing most rounds well but no doing enough in the early stages
Re: Round-By-Round - Kal Yafai (c) vs. Suguru Muranaka - May 13th 2017
I was hoping that Suguru Muranaka would be able to apply his antural, swarming style. If he doesn't run into something Muranaka is going to make Y prove his mettle tonight.
Re: Round-By-Round - Kal Yafai (c) vs. Suguru Muranaka - May 13th 2017
Has Yafai ever been forced to maintain a pace like this for 12 rounds? If not this could get interesting down the stretch. It's a shutout for Yafai at the time being though.
