To calm down ticket buyers they put a pound a pint on for the duration of the dinner as there was no speaker. Glenn spent the dinner outside knocking on the window shouting "at least let me in for pound a pint!".
I really shouldn't but that post has proper made me laugh

Hope he can get some help seriously though as it sounds like he has a drink problem, McCrory's voice was synonymous with lots of big fights as a co-commentator with the great Ian Darke in the 90s

Paul smith rated five by wba at sm again

Post by Bricks »

He keeps getting title shots he doesnt deserve time and time again

He keeps getting the cushy punditry jobs

Hes given a commentary role

A returning andre ward asks the wbc what i gotta do to become champ...they say fight paul Smith...

Its pretty clear whats going on......

Smith when he was a relativecnobody back in 2009 got invited to do a sky sports interview ...smith thought 13:00 meant 1.30 am .....anyway he borrows some change and catches a bus to london..he turns up at sky hq ..but the lights are off except one light on the top floor...carm down thinks paul..in typical scouse fashion he decides to break in ....so hes not late for his interview mind.......so he picks the lock and catches a lift to the top floor...he gets out and marches to the room with the light on ..hecturns the door knob and walks straight in...he sees adam smith bumming andre ward who is bumming eddie hearn who is bumming arthur abraham who is bumming bernd boente who is wanking off over a kugan cassius photo....smith says " al-right im here for me interview like...if its alright" ........eddie hearn shouts out " close that fkking door and pretend u didnt see none of this and u will be alright son"......adam smith growls back "ill look after u"....even the fat dumbbass smith knows its a non brainer.....

(Ps the above is an attempt at humour with its humour no basis on real persons their personalities or events .for the record smith imo is a good fighter and could win a world title if he got in his best shape.decent pundit too)

 I dont mind Smith as a pundit in al fairness but his career's taken a strange route, ever since he beat Dodson its either been journeymen or world class opposition

People should keep in mind though Zeuge is NOT a world champion, well he wont be as long as Groves and Chudinov don't draw

Ignoring the fact that he can be a dick, I just don't get it with Smith - I just re-read his record and the biggest name he has beat is Dodson.

It genuinely confuses me how he gets these opportunities.

It would be a complete embarrassment if he was to actually somehow win a title - although given his lack of self awareness he would make Boomer look the shy retiring type.

I also agree with the point about Murray - I don't see how one boxer can get 5 shots at a title when he has lost all 4 previous attempts.

Without wanting to make unfounded claims about possible monetary bribery or video related blackmail like that described above..... I cannot find a legitimate reason for all the unwarranted title shots. It's not even like Paul or Stephen bring a big fan base so don't bring money to the table.

There's something rotten in Denmark, boxrecers, and we needs to get to the bottom of the Smith boxing gangster cartel!

If Paul Smith was as good a man at putting his hands up as he was writing clever quips to people on his poxy Twitter page he would be a good fighter!

But he's sh*t, his last decent win was years ago, opposition has never been great & he has a big sense of entitlement cos he's a proper div

The WBA are a joke & this fight is unbelievable

I must admit i don't know anything about the opponent but i have a horrible feeling Smith may win this one.As for title fights,if you add Groves,Murray and Smith together it comes to 9 chances so far,11 with upcoming fights, shocking, truly shocking state of affairs :verysad:

If these 'governing' bodies are so desperate for a Smith to win a world title; they should rannk Callum and Paul number 1 and 2. Maybe even make it a catch weight where winner gets the light heavyweight title and the loser wins the super middle title (or vice versa.)

Maybe Stephen can speak to Kid Galahad's brother and put on some weight; and challenge brother Liam for the inaugural junior super middleweight title (set at 163 lbs....)

The winner between Callum and Paul faces the winner of Stephen versus Liam for the Diamond Emeritus Smith championship of the world....

The winner of that then needs to defend against Adam 'left hook' Smith in a super fight....

The winner of THAT faces the losing Smith brother out of Paul and Callum in his first defence, and then is mandated to face the loser of Stephen vs Liam fight in yet another Smith superfight of the Century?

The winner of that fights the Roy Smith Jnr (formerly Roy Jones Jnr) for the Galaxy Plutonium title and (Moderator - enough Smith titles and don't give the WBA any ideas)

I've seen Zeuge fight a couple times and I think he should beat Smith, but he's definitely one of the weaker titlists in the sport and Smith won't get a much better chance to win a belt than this.

Some Twitter responses from the Sauerland tweet confirming the fight:

Last 12 round win 4 years ago and that was at British level. Complete piss take

No one deserves a world title as much as Paul Smith. He is a true warrior who has beaten virtually everybody in Latvia. #Smigger

There's one Latvian left I'd like him to fight, Mairis Breidis

this at cruiserweight presumably?

Also, a clear cherry pick from Sauerland but perhaps a bargaining tool for future busines with Matchroom. Everyones happy (except the fans).

What an embarrassment Sauerland have become, first pulev v Johnson and now this, was this fight a stipulation to get groves on sheff card ?

worst decision since Hitler decided to invade Poland

This is gonna be a great fight, well deserved shot for smith, I'd happily pay the box office fee for this one

Is Paul Smith even ranked 5th in his family, let alone 5th in the world

fornicate GGG v Canelo, this is the real mega fight that boxing needs so much

Is Paul Smith effectively the Cheryl Cole of boxing in terms of talent to opportunity ratio?7

Smigga only world-ranked at blocking folk on twitter

Paul has undoubtedly earned his way into this position by beating plenty of worthy contenders, nobody more deserving #smigga #worldlevel

Regi's record is deceiving, very tricky customer & avoided. Smith deserves credit for taking the fight & finishing it in impressive fashion!

The superfights just keep coming this year! Winner catapults himself to P4P king

We'll call the reception of the news 50-50.

Its not a proper world title fight so he can have the belt now for all I care but do worry about Sky/Eddie lauding him as a world champ if he wins, I can see that pissing me off
