Re: JACK McNAMEE
Jack McNamee was an uncle of Paul McNamee, not the father.

Re: JACK McNAMEE
many thanks hofguy
i was under the impression Jack was Pauls father
ive been trying to contact Paul but understand hes still very involved with
The Australian Tennis Federation and maybe even the World governing body
so not really expected a reply even if hes seen my mail
I have also been trying to contact Kevin who i know was Jacks son and i believe
still owns the Clare Castle Hotel in Port Melbourne, his Dads old pub
thanks for the information
best regards

Re: JACK McNAMEE
Apologies if its not what you were after.... had no luck with an actual photo print....
I did find him listed for a photo in an Ailck Jackomos collection.... he is listed on the 3rd page with Alick Jackomos, Bullant Simms and a coupla other fellas with Harry John's Boxing Troupe.... you would have to get in touch with them though..... http://catalogue.aiatsis.gov.au/client/ ... S:1232/ada
Actually suprised there is not more of him avaliable, given the number of imports and higher profiled locals he fought.... it was good to learn as a young man he was the protoge of Jack Carroll.... I only had a chance to look though about a third of the articles that came up in my search... there were certainly more actions photos, just bad quality due to the scanning.... so there is a good chance they might be floating about with a collector or historian...
Also, maybe a long shot but you would be suprised how many photos are uncredited on the state and national achives.... no names but simply listed under "boxing" or "boxer"... he may yet have a couple floating about in the archives...

Re: JACK McNAMEE
Hi. Just seen your post. Jack was my grandfather (mother's side). I have dug out a photo for you - taken in the 30's we think, but can't upload it on here. Let me know where I can post it for you.
Re: JACK McNAMEE
I would like to see a copy of the photo - I have a family connection to Jack as well. Thank you
Re: JACK McNAMEE
Jack was also a bouncer at the Mt Erika Hotel in Prahran in his spare time !!!
