CNN: conor signed for mayweather

seems this might really happen. one
sided show with some rough tactics
at times. floyd wins by wide margin
and the conor fans complain for years
about being robbed.
but hey, boxing makes CNN headlines,
so it is a good thing ... somehow.

It is what it is. Personally I would like to see McGregors ass kicked. Being so loud and so obnoxious offends me, yet I'm fine with Mayweather......
Re: CNN: conor signed for mayweather
I have this horrible feeling that they will put on a scripted performance to turn this circus into future pay days. If this does happen Mayweather should wipe the floor with him in a few rounds if this is legit.
Re: CNN: conor signed for mayweather
The Mayweather-McGregor fight is great for the sport of boxing, because it provides exposure to completely new markets/demographics, instead of the usually small hard-core minority fan-base that almost exclusively pays PPV fees to watch the biggest bouts.
As a sporting spectacle though, it’s not going to be a great fight to watch and certainly one that shouldn’t be endorsed.
However, from a commercial perspective, and in terms of increasing the size of boxing’s fan-base, a crossover event like this is bound to generate an awful lot of money for the TV networks and also introduce new people (especially Americans) to continue watching the sport.
If the TV networks in the US become convinced that there is still good money to be earned from boxing, then they may be more inclined to invest more of their funds to ensure that they can televise the biggest bouts.

I love this fight. Absolutely and positively buying it and watching hours of prefight reality tv that they put out because it's going to be entertaining as hell.
Boxing purists need to cover their eyes and mouth with this one and just let it go. Say after me...IT's OK....IT's OK...it's NOT about you. It's about entertainment only. Floyd was NOT coming back inside this ring for anyone but Conor so it's not like we are missing anything else with this one. So why not?
Aren't people at all interested in what a fight looks like between the best boxer and mixed martial artist? I think it's interesting as hell.
Floyd should demolish him and carry Conor for a good number of rounds, I know that. But if Conor is smart, he'll fight as dirty as possible and take a page out of Maidana's book and lock him up on those ropes and swing away. Floyd's sharing some risk in this one as well. He has always been rumored to struggle with southpaws and he's going get in some wrestling action in there. Who knows? Never know.

floyd takes it easy for some rounds.
conor, while being in MMA, mainly
wins by punching, so the fight makes
at least more sense than a bout with
a brazilian jiujitsu. but i believe that
no MMA is a real counter puncher and
usually aggressors find out that going
in with floyd comes at a price.
four years ago i would have said floyd
wins by KO, but age and rust might
make it more even. in the end floyd
is forty and out of the ring for at least
two years when that fight happens.
this could just look weird for boxing
fans, cause usually non-boxers simply
struggle keeping composure.

Boxing and MMA morph into WWE.
The lines between fact and fiction dissolve in a cathedral size vat of money.
Will it be entertaining?
Only if Mayweather loses - fans have been waiting for years.
Can this happen?
Do we need to ask?
Perhaps McGregor will forget which discipline he's fighting in and then it will become a worldwide spectacle.

Re: CNN: conor signed for mayweather
It could be funny ... a 40 yr old man, 2 years out of the ring, who was the best boxer of his generation vs. The prime, biggest star of ufc.
though mcgregor is an excellent striker, it is 2 different sports. Mcgregor probably couldnt even handle decent sparring partners in preparation, though perhaps he has a punchers chance.
for the money, we can all see how it is worth it. Mcgregors corner can throw in the towel or he can foul out, take his cash and move on with his ufc career. Mayweather gets another bundle of cash and participates in the biggest crossover event in history. Also would be nice to see a ufc man crossover into boxing for a change.
mayweather could probably knock him out in a couple of rounds, he may find himself toying with mcgregor, and maybe mcgregor can land a haymaker out of the blue. Floyd wins by ko 5.

it won't be that bad, but nonboxers
usually simply lack technique of pro
boxers who trained year in year out
to strike with precision, time right
and manage counters. imo other
combat sports just didn't take the
pure art of punching to that level.

I don't want to watch it...and I don't really have a valid reason.
It is a pure hype job between the two biggest mouths in world sport making people believe it is really worth the £20 PPV when it will be an atrocious fight.
But boxers have been doing this without McGregor's input for about the last 150 years so as I said...not really a valid reason to hate on the fight.
