Just watched it, that was right in the bell. Nothing that could have been helped. His uncle is a coward.
He should get some serious jail time for that.

Lol the Dirrell family is full of retards. It's in their roots. I remember reading a story from the amateurs how Andre and Anthony tried beating up someone after losing a fight to them in the amateurs. They're emotional weasels. No idea why they're still showcased. Overhyped gatekeepers. Haven't watched the turds "box" in years.

lol, I remember that

I think it was Travis Hartman who beat one of them, then they supposedly went after him and John Scully had to step in. That type of thing seems in line with what happened tonight...

Yeah, that was it. Not sure of the fighter, but I remember the bit about Scully. He's the one that told of the story.

Interesting how the ref in his after fight interview referred to Dirrell as "Andre" throughout. Except once when he realised and said "Andre..Dirrell". He seemed absolutely personally outraged by the foul.

Uncle has already been charged twice by cops - 1st and 2nd degree assault.

Nothing wrong with Dirrell - lay down knowing he'd get a DQ win.

Better not do that v Scousers in September or he'll be getting a bottle over the head back.

..not that it matters much but at one point I thought I heard him saying "Andre Ward " and then immediately corrected himself to "Andre Dirrell"..

to be fair to dirrell he did say to uzcategui he thought the punch was on the bell and he had no trouble with him. easy to say once he knew he won i suppose. his uncle is a clown and will pay the price in court i would imagine.

I have been a fan of Andre Dirrell and his god given ability for the last 10 years. Before the fight last night, I turned to my buddy and said that "I love this kid but if he can find a way out of a fight, he'll take it in a heartbeat." It's just always been something with this kid. Andre Dirrell has top ten P4P talent but if you don't pair it with heart, brains and solid team...this is what you get for results.

#1 The punch wasn't even THAT late.

#2 Jose Uzcategui does not speak English! The ref yelling "5 seconds, stop at the bell!" means absolutely nothing to him.

#3 This is a prime example of "Protect yourself at all times".

#4 Dirrell was not knocked out as the ref explained after the fight, not even close. He was well aware of the situation and the fact that he was in the fight of his life. He opted out and it's just another example of the fiasco's that come with being a fan of this kid. He was boxing marvelously the previous 3 rounds too. I have no doubt that he not only wins the fight but might even scored a knockout of Jose.

The Dirrell family acted like the ghetto trash that they are,

The uncle should do a year in jail.

Thankfully, all the great fight fans saw exactly what transpired last night,

Sad family, I haven't seen much of it, but I think it's tipical American behaviour isn't it?

Jose Uzcategui was simply far superior to Andre, so they needed to find a different way to win it and this was it.
It reminds me of Joseph Parker vs Alexander Dimitrenko, who also nearly became champion of the world, by taking a dive at the right moment, luckely that was a fair ref, something you can't expect in America, there the ref will allways help the American.

While the Dirrell's are thugs, and the uncle should be prosecuted, Uzcategui has only himself to blame for the DQ. He had actually nailed Dirrell after the bell in two previous rounds, once a very hard shot, receiving a warning. While Dirrell was not unconscious, he did fall on his face after the late shot and he was not in any shape to continue.

While it is frustrating because it was a good competitive fight, and I really like Uzcategui's style (had a decent chance to get the win), the ref had no choice but to DQ the Mexican.

Was going to make a separate topic, but may as well ask it here.

Will Dirrells uncle bring up the Abraham business as part of his defense?

The best part was the punch didn;t even phase uzcategui. And then he put his leg up like he was going to kick him.

I didn't think dirrell faked it against abraham but i definitely did last night and now think he probably did against abraham as well. Dude is a bitch.

I doubt the uncle does anytime fr that. Probably a year suspension by the commission which is about all dirrell fights anyway.

The ref did have a choice. It was an unintentional foul and it could've went to the scorecards.

I didn't see or hear that. I saw him tell him that he forgave him. I'm surprised he doesn't have more support here. That was like a nuclear bomb compared to the love tap from Abraham that so many on here thought was legit.

He doesn't deserve any support because now he's proven to fans, even the ones that supported him in the Abraham incident that he's a bitch that will take the easy way out any time it's presented to him.

I just saw the highlight of the supposed after the bell punch. I recall a similar fight years back was Starling vs. Molinaris. The Starling fight was more questionable.

The latest Dirrell fight wasn't nearly as questionable. The punches appeared to be legal right on the bell. Don't know what the showtime announcers were yelling about.

I don't think he obviously faked here.the shot from Abraham wouldn't have hurt a little girl.

He was legitimately hurt no doubt, but as soon as the referee started asking him if he could continue or not he made sure he was gonna lay down and not get up.
