He's been riding high on P4P lists for quite a while now already.
No, not on people's P4P lists that I actually take confidence in. He's only been in recently after everyone has been losing. Ring's ratings are laughable.
Which P4P lists do you take confidence in? Because there aren't any that I've seen where GGG isn't rated pretty highly

Not near the guys I listed. Broner does nothing near huge ratings, neither does Sergei. Boza-Edwards used to do about 7 times more than either. Boxing is pretty dead here.
Uh, you included GGG, though. Kovalev was doing 1 million+ ratings just like GGG on HBO. Broner still does 800K on Showtime.

Canelo, Cotto, and Pacquiao for sure bring higher ratings, but GGG isn't in that league. If you include GGG, then you have to include Kovalev and Broner.
Ggg sells out large arenas on both coasts. You could certainly include them if you wanted to be wrong.

I've not seen a good one on this forum yet, and as I said, it's only recently that GGG even deserves to be rated 8-10. People having Golovkin as #4-5 have him way too high. He's only really entered p4p lists after his win over Jacobs.

GGG sold about the same as Kovalev did on PPV against Ward. You could exclude Kovalev, but you'd be wrong.

He's #7 on the Transnational Boxing Rankings Board. I have him at #4 myself. I have a hard time seeing 6 guys you could put ahead of him to be honest. He's one of the most dominant fighters in the sport, and has beaten the majority of the major contenders at 160. Canelo and Billy Joe Saunders are the only ones left, and Canelo is coming up next.

Draw like what? GGG did ~160K for his fight against Lemieux and Jacobs. Kovalev did 160K vs. Ward and will likely do the same in the rematch. What the hell are you talking about? You are wrong here and are too stubborn to admit it.

#7 is still a bit high, but I think it's fair. No way is Golovkin close to #4. Here are fighters that deserve to be ranked higher than Golovkin:

1. Andre Ward
2. Sergey Kovalev
3. Roman Gonzalez
4. Terrance Crawford
5. Vasyl Lomachenko
6. Manny Pacquiao
7. Naoya Inoue
8. Gennady Golovkin
9. Saul Alvarez
10. Shinsuke Yamanaka

Also, Golovkin could easily be overtaken if Mikey Garcia unifies the LW division. Mikey is currently hanging around at #11 on my list. If he beats Linares or Flanagan in a dominant manner, I will put him above Golovkin. Still, as I said, Golovkin has not been riding high in any real p4p sense. He never had the kind of resume until he had that very close win over Jacobs.

I never said GGG was a PPV star, he'd certainly have done more than 160 with Ward. That's besides the point, he has sold out MSG & Staples. I don't know where you're from, but that is very rare these days. He's clearly fourth behind Canelo, Pac & Cotto(who wouldn't have done much more than 150-200 with Kirkland), but he's clearly above Kovalev on his ability to sell tickets alone.

And the fact that a p4p fight like Kovalev/Ward doing the same numbers as proverbial lambs going to a GGG slaughter backs me up. Not you.

I think GGG would have been better developing his out of ring persona like some real bad-ass assassin type, coming out with some cutting stuff. Just a bit more hype. I know it's crude and often lamented in the game but it would help him sell tickets, help build fights and ultimately probably get him more recognition. Mike Tyson's legacy is as much about his aura as his resume of wins.

Canelo doesn't know English.. what's you're point?
"There are currently 41 million native Spanish speakers living in the US today — and another 11.6 million people who are bilingual..." how many can speak Kazakh?
Great point!! :TU:

Personally I dont see GGG ever getting a huge PPV audience. He is a fight fan's favorite but doesnt have the charisma to bring in the general sports fan with only a casual interest in boxing. Even if he beats Canelo convincingly doesnt guarantee him a large Latino/Mexican following. I live a few miles from the Mexican border & most of my boxing buddies are Mexican/Mex-American. Just because they admire & respect GGG doesnt mean they'll plop down money for his PPVs if he's not fighting a Mexican.

So you still have Roman Gonzalez at #3 in spite of the fact that he didn't win his last fight? I wouldn't have Pac ahead of him because I think Pac is just about finished at the elite level, he's still a very good fighter, but I figure there's at least 2 or 3 dudes at Welterweight that can beat him now.

I have Ward, Kovalev and Lomachenko ahead of GGG as well so I agree with ya on that. I could see an argument for having Crawford ahead of him as well, but I can't put him there for now as GGG has accomplished more than Crawford in my opinion...though I do feel Crawford will likely go on to have a spectacular career surpassing GGG's accomplishments.

If that's the case, you might as well remove Golovkin completely because I had him losing to Jacobs. Gonzalez lost a razor-close fight that could've gone either way. He's still a p4p top fighter.

I have Pac in there because he's still beating top 10 welterweights. He just got done beating Vargas. Eh, if Pacquiao is in any form at all, he beats Thurman easy. I do think Pacquiao is shot and a part-time boxer, though. I wouldn't mind a list that doesn't include Pacquiao because of that.

Crawford is 100% ahead of GGG. There is no argument. He's a two-weight division world champion and was #1 spanning both weight classes. Golovkin barely beat Jacobs while Crawford schooled Postol and Diaz. Inoue is the same because he's been so dominant and beating better fighters than Golovkin.

I don't think you can argue having Golovkin over Ward, Kovalev, Gonzalez, Crawford, Lomachenko, or Inoue. Pacquiao is arguable only if you don't include him in the p4p list. If you do, though, he's above Golovkin because of his resume.

GGG/Jacobs was a battle between the #1 and #2 in the division. GGG/Lemieux was a big unification between two hard-hitters.

No one knows who the hell Ward is outside of Jokeland.

I'm not even a Jacobs fan and thought Golovkin was going to decapitate him. I scored the fight for Jacobs, but as I said, the fight was razor-close and could've gone to either man. I actually do like Golovkin, but the nut-hugging gets on my damn nerves. Golovkin-tards get mad if anyone says anything bad about the man.

I just can't wait till Derevyanchenko decapitates the Golovkin/Canelo winner.

It would help. But the fact is, fighters don't always absorb the full marketability of the fighters they beat. Hopkins could never sell ppv's like DLH could, despite knocking out DLH. There are countless things that factor into marketability including charisma, race, nationality, stylistic entertainment factor, accomplishments, boxing ability, public appearances, who you beat, and marketing history. When I say marketing history, I basically mean the entire cumulative amount of money spent on commercials advertising for your fights over the course of your entire career. When it comes to who you beat, there are factors of the nationalities of the fighters you've beaten, whether you've won over their fan bases either as haters or fans of your own, the initial size of that fighter's fan base, and the intersectionality of the fan bases of the various fighters you've fought (i.e. if someone is a fan of Mayweather, Hopkins, Ward, and Dirrell, you can still only win over that person one time). As far as the nationalities of fighters you've beaten, you generally want to have beaten fighters from the big boxing markets, i.e. America, England, Germany, and Mexico.

You didn't break it down very well... Here's the scoop:

People didn't like Hopkins. Just the kind of bitch that he was. That was a great betting fight because Oscar was loved but didn't have a chance in Hell vs the disliked Hopkins.... Oscar was super conscious of his image and polished it endlessly, but seemed prissy to people who didn't like him, such as myself.... Obviously people don't like the Dirrells because they're fkking A-holes.... Ward is a pompous jerk. People don't like him.... Cubans and Eastern Europeans get the cold shoulder over here. Americans are just extremely biased.... People didn't like Toney because he's a garbage mouth.... People didn't like braggart Roy Jones.... People loved George Foreman. He purposely revamped his image and developed an outgoing personality.

People liked Floyd or hated him. They liked him because he was a super winner who played his cards very well.... They like Canelo. He's been marketed like a SOB and who's the alternative for Mexican fans????.... People love Joshua. He's a damned hard worker, a super winner, extremely bright and articulate, and very talented.... They loved Pacquiao. He was the hyped up "hope" they prayed would beat Mayweather, and insisted he did when he didn't.

So the road to being the top PPV star is expert marketing... studious image building... extremely articulate speaking ability in English... very hard work and very high level skills... brilliant match making... having a great smile and great sense of humor... winning all, or at least 90% of your fights.
