I don't think he obviously faked here.the shot from Abraham wouldn't have hurt a little girl.
He was legitimately hurt no doubt, but as soon as the referee started asking him if he could continue or not he made sure he was gonna lay down and not get up.
Point remains, this was much more legit.

He had actually nailed Dirrell after the bell in two previous rounds, once a very hard shot, receiving a warning. While Dirrell was not unconscious, he did fall on his face after the late shot and he was not in any shape to continue.

While it is frustrating because it was a good competitive fight, and I really like Uzcategui's style (had a decent chance to get the win), the ref had no choice but to DQ the Mexican.
The ref did have a choice. It was an unintentional foul and it could've went to the scorecards.
Agree...it didn't seem intentional to me at all.

Remember that a similar thing happened in Gassiev-Thomas, and that ended in a NC because 4 rounds hadn't been completed. This one should've gone to the cards and Uzcategui should've won an MD.

Certainly more legit than the Abraham situation definitely. No argument there. Just shows though that Dirrell will always take the easy way out when he can though. Fighters better be on their P's and Q's not to commit any fouls against this guy because he'll definitely use it as an excuse to get an easy W. Especially if he's having a hard time in the fight.

I didn't see or hear that. I saw him tell him that he forgave him. I'm surprised he doesn't have more support here. That was like a nuclear bomb compared to the love tap from Abraham that so many on here thought was legit.
it was just before he said he forgave him on a full fight video that has now been taken down from you tube. i have no problem with the dq for repeatedly hitting after the bell. the only problem i have is with his uncle hitting uzcategui .

I watched it live, albeit drunk, and I didn't hear that.

There's 2 ways to look at this. You could say Dirrell was smart for faking a KO. It worked well for him in the past. How many blows are landed .01 to .75 seconds after the bell??? It happens very often. I've been hit a second late and never complained about it. If it comes later than that you bitch to the ref if he doesn't issue a warning. "That punch came way after the bell. Keep your eyes wide open Sport." If the ref is trying to help your opponent there's nothing you can do about it -- except up your intensity and pressure and win as decisively as you possibly can. Raging anger can work for you.

Riddick Bowe threw 3 punches at least 3 seconds after the bell when he fought Cuban, Jorge Luis Gonzalez. It was after the 5th or 6th I can't remember. The bell was clanging away as Gonzalez was slumping in a corner obviously hurt. Bowe walked to him and ripped Gonzalez with several very late, very hard illegal shots while Jim Lampley called him "STUPID" and said he was flirting with disqualification. Bowe didn't even have a point deducted and the referee didn't call "time" to issue a warning. That's when you know the referee is corrupt as Hell. He likely made an arrangement ahead of time to only issue warnings for the worst possible fouls and take no points for anything.

Neither Dirrell has the boxing skills to beat the top guys at 168 -- so if they're going to continue winning titles they need help.

I'll have to rewatch it. Initially watching it, I felt the shot was just after the bell. The dude started throwing it just as the bell finished. It looked hard and right on the button. The way Andre fell did not look faked IMO. The Abraham KO, on the other hand, looked suspect as all hell. First off, the punch looked very light. Secondly, Andre looked up after the punch like WTF, then went into convulsions. It was embarrassing. This time, Andre fell flat on his face, got up to his knees and waited a sec. Not sure if you could be saved by the bell or not, but that didn't really matter as it was a foul.

IIRC, it was the ref that had him lay on his back and asked him questions from that angle. You clearly see Andre mouthing, "I'm fine. I'm OK. I'm fine." with the manner that he could continue. He looked genuinely upset that the fight had been stopped. I truly believe that he didn't want a rehash of the Abraham aftermath.

And while I do not condone his corner's behavior, I'm willing to bet it stemmed from the Abraham debacle and the fall out Andre suffered from that. Nearly ended his career. Now you have this, and they feel that he is going to suffer a similar fall out. And by the looks of it, he already is. You guys are pretty tough critics. I admit that I was right in the mix, and at times leading the charge against Andre after his Abraham performance. But not here. I feel it was legit, and this was most likely Andre's worst nightmare coming to fruition all over again. So you guys can sit here and throw stones and take part in ruining this man's career, but I'm not buying in this time.

He's a vile being. Though if I'm honest I didn't see him do anything wrong last night. I still hate him for flopping to the ground against froch and bitching out against Abraham, but that looked legit to me.

The Abraham thing, yes. Like I said earlier, I even took part in degrading this man for that. But as far as being a vile being, I disagree. This is his career, and there are plenty of others who have done far worse and gotten less criticism. It's not like he's out there beating women and breaking the law like others we've seen. And also, I don't believe last night was faked. He's been climbing an uphill battle to try and get some inkling of credibility back from the Abraham deal, and then this happens. I genuinely feel sorry for the guy. It's easy for us to completely ruin him as we are mere unseens and don't have something like he has on the line.

I guess I'm taking a stab at some compassion here. I've done wrong on more than one occasion and was allowed some reconciliation, so why not this man?

That should have been called a no contest. Jose was in the middle of a combination which hurt Dirrell before the bell, and it was hard to stop it. It was unintentional, and Dirrell shouldn't have a win.

Looks like he had been hurt from the first left before the bell sounded, saw that he had Dirrell hurt and just kept going. It was all really quick, but he did not start throwing that punch until after the bell sounded. And he had been warned earlier.
