I know most are picking spence, and I hope he wins but to me this fight is a toss up. Brook only lost to ggg a bigger more powerful man who he outboxed the first few rounds. He beat porter the only other person to do that is thurman who most regard as the top dog at 147 right now. Spence hasn't been tested against elite competition yet but has looked spectacular mixing it up to the head and body. Really a 50/50 fight for me. If Spence does win in a convincing fashion then I think he will be the top dog by quite a bit at welter.

I don't think Spence will let this fight be a repeat of the Porter/Brook.
50/50 and I'm quite excited for this one.

I don't think Brook will comfortably make 147. I voted for Spence by KO.

I've got Spence by clearcut but competitive decision: 8 rounds to 4 or 7 rounds to 5. :box:

This is now included in PTBF!! :TU:

4 or 5 years ago Brook ducked the light hitting Bradley for a chance to get a belt. If Brook had confidence at 28-0 he would have took that fight.
Spence has much more confidence in his ability even with less experience, and we will see the reason soon.

I like spence by KO as well. I just don't see Brook's face holding up.

Hope Brook wins, but I'm still really on the fence with this one. I really don't think Brook should have gone back to 147, but that's irrelevant at this point. I do think Spence has all the tools to win, but I'm really not convinced he will stand up to Brook's strength. If its a back and forth battle and Brook is landing his shots, I think Brook will win, but if Spence keeps his composure, it's his fight. The sad thing is, I think whoever wins this one the loser will be dismissed as second rate, which is a real shame. I really believe this is the best two in the division squaring off and if it's not, then it's 2 of the best 3.

Brook wins a war of attrition via a late stoppage. Seems to walk through a lot of the Spence offense and connects clean himself a few times.

Spence tries to give the rebuilt eye a real test once he sees that his body punches don't have enough effect and the going gets really tough. Brook keeps his right hand glued to his forehead all night.

"I was up against a very big welterweight tonight. I'll be back, you haven't seen the best of me." the American explains afterwards.

I predict a close distance fight. I have to give Spence the edge due to Brook moving up then moving down in weight. I think that is a minus for Brook plus the eye injury. Don't think a hometown advantage will make that up for Brook.

Spence late stoppage or UD with a KD or two.

I think it will be very competitive early (Brook is a far better and more athletic boxer than Spence's previous opponents, who were underpowered and largely stood in front of him), but in my view Spence is the stronger of the two and I see that powerful body assault eventually taking the steam out of Brook.

Given the expectations for Spence, I have a feeling he'll be 'hype jobbed' if he loses, even if it's a very close, high-quality contest.

Would it be deserved if he gets stopped?

It could be I suppose

Some might say that would be unfair to Brook, but, while he's quite a good fighter, I don't think he's on a level where he'll win this convincingly if Spence is really what he's made out to be.

Yes, if he is stopped by drained Brook, he would be a hype job. Not gonna happen though. The best Brook could do is a close decision.

UK fans will call Spence Lacy 2.0 if he loses this fight and deservingly so. Unfortunately for them it wont be the case.

Even losing on points to a Brook that is weight drained- I dont think it would be too harsh to label him somewhat of a hypejob based on all the hype that surrounds him.

If he was to lose to a Brook that wasnt boiling himself down to 147 after fighting at 160, in a close, competitive fight, there would be no shame in that.

I think Brook is quite good, but if he ends up winning this convincingly then Spence probably isn't nearly as good as I thought he was.

I would give him much better chances at 154.
