When did it all start ???

Post by Foggy »

The Witter - Hatton feud, i know of the occasion Witter went in on the interview with Thaxton & Hatton & called Hatton out but was this the first instance of the bad blood between the 2 or had anything come before this, i want to know when the whole scenario started ???

Lets not ruin the thread by turning it into a who would win between Hatton & Witter

To be honest Foggy I don’t think there is particularly bad blood between them. Just a domestic rivalry, under the same promoter (you know who) who couldn’t get the fight on (yet again), Witter continued to call out Hatton at every opportunity, nothing unusual in that and then finally got sick of waiting and jumped ship to the BBC/Fight Academy.

Now he’s in so much limbo I half expect him to dance under the bottom rope for his next ring entrance.

It’s just dicks like Lirva that make the whole thing seem like there is some extra special festering bad blood. I think most fans think it’s a shame the fight never happened but then that was the case with Sports Network for a long time, nobody got to see anything remotely resembling a 50/50 contest.

I do remember once watching Hatton fight maybe against Tackie when Witter was sat at ring side. After he won Hatton lent through the ropes, pointed at Witter and ahouted 'You're Fuckin' Next' so there must be some bad blood between them surely?

Witter saw Hatton as the perfect shot at the bigtime and a natural fight. No other fight would be as well paid or as exposing for Witter. So Witter called him out for 5years. Well the rivalry built up and after been dodged Witter bad mouthed Hatton saying he'd ko him easily blabla, Hatton got offended and Team Hatton has vowed in their forum to never fight Witter and give him a payday. Witter personally hasn't got anything against Hatton its more of having what he wants and wanting to fight him to get it.

As a Witter fan Ive given up on this fight and hope Witter can regain his old form against Corley. If he does win the WBC it may happen and be bigger than ever. How about a Witter-Hatton trilogy for the Undisputed after if Witter wins the WBC.

Also as a Witter fan I favour Hatton to win this now (before I'd go for Witter) BUT I think I Witter will bring more problems for Hatton than Tyszu did and Hatton knows it otherwise it would have happened.

I think the feud originated from Brendan Ingle myself. When I was at the Hatton v Pendleton bout, I heard Ingle cursing loudly to all and sundry at ringside about how Witter wasn't getting the opportunities Hatton was. I think Ingle probably got disgruntled that his man was being left out in the cold.

Just a theory mind.
