Lomachenko would dominate Gervonta Davis in epic fashion (Davis' team even admits they won't fight Lomachenko)
Re: Lomachenko would dominate Gervonta Davis in epic fashion (Davis' team even admits they won't fight Lomachenko)
I would be ok for Davis to not fight guys like Lomo or M. Garcia for at least a year. There is such a thing as moving a fighter too fast. I always thought Joshua was being moved too fast but guess I was wrong. In the meantime I would lure Mares, Frampton, Santa Cruze, and Russell to fight him at 130. All great competition for him. Loma and Garcia may be too much for him right now. Several other guys at 130 that would be good scalps to increase his confidence too.

There's 3 categories kids fall into:
1. Some kids like Marvin Hagler and Carlos Monzon don't grow hardly at all.. 2. Some kids, like Jimmy Ellis, grow throughout their 20's.. 3. Some dudes like Duran and Toney don't actually grow that much -- but they get real tired of training down to their ideal fighting weight.. Although they don't look very trim or fit when they fight they continue to be effective -- and maybe win World Titles at much higher and flabbier weights than you would ever expect them to.
Kids? What an idiot this girl is.

If you are willing to fight for a title, you should be willing to take on all comers who are coming for the title there after.
Mike Tyson won his first title at 21. We didn't hear anything, rather, I don't remember anyone talking about him developing more before fighting a better opponent.

Tyson was a phenom. The % of phenoms in ANY sport (let alone boxing) is relatively small. Mayweather would have to be an idiot in every sense of the word (businessman, advisor, promoter) to let Davis step in the ring with Lomachenko right now!! He'd get dominated so bad it could kill his confidence, which is basically what Davis-haters WANT to see happen.Impractical Poster wrote:If you are willing to fight for a title, you should be willing to take on all comers who are coming for the title there after.

Agreed except I would keep Gervonta away from Garcia for at least 2 years and Loma more like 3-4 (When Loma might have lost a step or two).Badhusker wrote:I would be ok for Davis to not fight guys like Lomo or M. Davis has only had 18 pro fights and about that many amateur fights. His first 16 bouts were vs scrubs. Wins over Pedraza & Walsh dont put him anywhere NEAR being ready for Garcia or Loma.

Davis has been boxing since 5 and is reported to have over 200 amateur fights

My bad...but 95+% of Davis' fights were at the junior level since he was only 17 when he won the 2012 Golden Gloves Nationals at the senior level & turned pro shortly after that.crusader wrote:Davis has been boxing since 5 and is reported to have over 200 amateur fights

Any title holder should be fighting the best. It's their teams job to come up with the best game plan as possible for their opponent, not shelter them from who they feel is better. That is what is wrong with this sport already. Look at Canelo. The Mayweather loss didn't really slow him down. He got taken to school and came back better because of it. Davis is extremely exciting. A loss to the best boxer in the world isn't going to hurt him any. ANd if it does kill his confidence, well then, maybe he wasn't really meant for greatness in this arena to begin with.Best Coast wrote:Tyson was a phenom. I'm not a Davis hater. I see he is super talented. And while I do believe he gets beaten by Lomachenko, I don't believe that's reason to avoid him.
But who the hell am I to talk... I'm a Wilder fan.

I generally agree, but I think it depends on Lomassiah's plans. It might be tough to make given the Arum / FMJ history.Impractical Poster wrote:Any title holder should be fighting the best. If Lomassiah opts for Salido next, GTank should go for Frampton, in the UK for big bucks. With FMJ involved it would be large. If that won't work go for one of the other belt holders or Corrales.
If Lomassiah chooses other than Salido, GTank should go for a statement fight against the Ukrainian's only loss. We still do not have any idea what level GTank is at. Fighting another Walsh will not answer any questions or improve him as a fighter.

Sosa is a very tough cookie. Most people expected him to be out pointed, not KO.jockpunk wrote:So it took lomachencko 9 rounds to stop Jason sosa, but he will be able to knock out davis in one or two?
That was Lomo making a statement that he is a well skilled fighter that can also bang.
It was also entertaining from my point of view at least.

Love to see GTank v Sosa.KiwiRider wrote:Sosa is a very tough cookie. Most people expected him to be out pointed, not KO.jockpunk wrote:So it took lomachencko 9 rounds to stop Jason sosa, but he will be able to knock out davis in one or two?

I agree with everything you've stated. My point was assuming the Loma fight was available with no road blocks, I would be disappointed if Davis were to take a pass.Tanzio wrote:I generally agree, but I think it depends on Lomassiah's plans.
