Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
Can't think of a more certain bet so far this year at a betable price. Brook is so over rated it's unreal, his win against porter was farcical, his inevitable hiding from GGG a desperate for money move, and the three world title defences should have been on the comedy channel. I rate spence very highly and have done since i first saw him fight and he's only getting better. Just gutted I didn't lump on the 6/4 first show on spence win and 2/1 by ko when the fight was announced, the now 4/7 feels like a missed opportunity but the saving grace may be the 6/4 still on offer for a spence ko,tko win. Your thoughts please

I think it's a pick'em fight. How was Brook's win over Porter a farce? I thought it was a solid performance from Brook. At this point, I feel Spence is a little overrated.
Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
Farcical? Brook went to Porter's backyard as a heavy underdog and beat him.

I took Spence 2/1 for the K.O when the odds opened (see betting thread) but it is far from a certainty. Brook can bang and is unorthodox but I think when Spence gets him nailed down he could well finish the job as Kell doesn't react well to taking a shot.

Senchenko - got buzzed and came back to knock him out in the same round
Golovkin - hurt early to the body, finished the round standing strong and fire big shots back

I take your point but I'm on about reactions not recovery. Is Kell chinny? I don't think so. I'm on about the fact that when he does get caught he makes it very apparent and if he does do this and Spence see it he will go for the kill.Ossyrules wrote:Brooks reactions the 2 times he's been buzzedThe Insider wrote:I took Spence 2/1 for the K.O when the odds opened (see betting thread) but it is far from a certainty. It's only the same as spence going wobbly vs laverty. Spence had the luxury of having a minute sit down though. The Insider wrote:I take your point but I'm on about reactions not recovery. If spence goes wobbly like that vs brook it's game over for him
Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
Really daft thread. Brook beat Porter fair n square. It was close and untidy but Porter has a style that's impossible to look good against. Kell picked his shots well and tied Porter up when he had to. It was a professional job.
I don't think Brook is overrated at all. He's a talent.
This is a 50/50 fight but I slightly favour Spence because Brook is coming off a loss and has had to go back to 147 from 160. If history is anything to go by this type of move doesn't usually end well. I'll be supporting Brook to the end though. Both guys have looked really good and confident in the build up. Can't wait for Saturday

Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
It seems that the Brits are betting heavily on Brook, because Spence Jr’s odds have drifted slightly, meaning that he’s now rated as being 61.9% (8/13) certain to defeat Kell Brook, whereas yesterday the American was quoted by some betting websites to be 70.6% certain (5/12).In the know 85 wrote:Can't think of a more certain bet so far this year at a betable price. If you’re so confident about the American capturing Kell Brook’s IBF title, then I’d wait until the last possible moment, because you’ll receive a better return from your gamble.

Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
Kell Brook was 153.8lbs on the 5th May. Yesterday he weighed 148.2lbs. The IBF’s 30-day weigh-in figures weren’t released.Chippo wrote:I don't see how Kell can get down from 159.5 to 147, at his age, without it affecting his energy and strength. Spence is a quality body puncher. To me this all spells late stoppage win for the American against a tired and drained Kell Brook.
According to Johnny Nelson, Kell Brook typically weighs about 180lbs between fights.
For sure, making the 147lbs weight has always been an issue for Kell Brook, a task made even more difficult after gaining muscle for the one-off Golovkin contest, but he seems to have lost his weight “properly” for the Errol Spence Jr. fight.
That doesn’t necessarily mean that he won’t be affected by his weight loss, but at least he has tried his upmost to minimise any adverse effects.
I guess we’ll know for sure if the weight-drain has depleted Brook’s stamina when or if the bout ventures past the fifth round.

Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
When this first got made I thought Kell would win and win convincingly on points - but that was just my naivety and being a Brook fan. Then I started to lean towards Spence - the weight drop will effect Kell's stamina and energy no doubt, and Spence has brilliant body shots. I think body shots is the only way Spence will knock Brook down. Thinking about all this, I think Kell might go for the kill early on, so it goes to a shoot out, and then from there anyone could win, so I'm 50/50 - AND I HATE BEING 50/50

Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
Maybe I don't understand the weight, which definitely could be it. But what did Kell do differently than what he always does? I believe he just did not cut as much weight for the G fight. It's not like he worked to put on weight and then shed it off. His walk around weight is usually above 160, correct? So, why would he be affected any differently for this weight cut that any other?Chippo wrote:I don't see how Kell can get down from 159.5 to 147, at his age, without it affecting his energy and strength. It's about losing muscle mass trying to make 147 from 160 lbs plus the fact when you get battered by a bigger puncher it takes a lot from you, mentally and physically. Errol is gonna dig like crazy Brook's body.

Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
I understand this. But he has been cutting to 147 from over 160 for years now. I think people are thinking that since he fought G at 160, that he has never been that high before, when that is actually his walk around weight. So, really, he's doing nothing different in preparation for weight cutting for this fight than he did for Porter and so on. I feel he should be fine as far as conditioning goes.apollo creed wrote:It's about losing muscle mass trying to make 147 from 160 lbs plus the fact when you get battered by a bigger puncher it takes a lot from you, mentally and physically. Wrong! He was training to be a 'middleweight' by adding muscle mass on his body. Now he has to cut off a larger quantity of muscle mass.Impractical Poster wrote:I understand this. Doesn't sound like it here... He was still cutting weight to make 160. He'll be just fine.apollo creed wrote:Wrong! He was training to be a 'middleweight' by adding muscle mass on his body. Adding muscle mass? How much muscle mass can you add in 7 weeks?apollo creed wrote:Wrong! He was training to be a 'middleweight' by adding muscle mass on his body. I don't think the weight is an issue or a excuse.. I believe on a totally level playing field that Spence is faster, stronger, hits harder, younger and hungrier, and has more skills than brook I can't see any way that brook wins this fight other than a robbery if Spence fails to get him out of there.. Hence my bet of the year, I do hope my English compatriots dig deep into their wallets and unload the cash on brook on fight night because that is sure to push Spence's price out to around 1/1 money.. Because once the bell for the first round rings Spence's odds are going to get shorter and shorter until it's done.

How do you all feel now??? Daft thread??? How about bang on the money bitches

Re: Errol spence jr.. My bet of the year...
About 25 pounds of it if you're a Heavyweight and workout 6 or 7 hours a day and sleep 9 to 10 hours on a cloud like mattress.. It's about 500 a week for great food and supplements. If you know how to cook yourself you can save a ton, but your strength trainers cost many times that. If you could train on your own you could save a fortune, but going from 175 to 200 like Roy Jones did takes a whole team of people.Badhusker wrote:Adding muscle mass? Once you beef up and you want to take it off again?? I always thought you had to take a few months off and let the weight dissipate naturally by changing your diet and being very sedentary. It takes longer to take muscle weight off than put it on to my knowledge -- so exactly how Roy Jones and Kell Brook got all that muscle to come off so fast is something they know how to do that I don't.. That was pretty amazing.

What extra muscle mass did Brook have going into the G Fight? He had to cut weight to make 160.
