Pro-Am's.

Post by stujones »

In light of the home nations success in the Commonwealth games, I was wandering has there been any developments in the discussion that apparently took place betweeen Warren and the ABA to bring in some televised Pro-Am fights.

Alot of people thought this was only suggested because he hadn't signed Amir then and his interest was primilarly Amir - now that he has got Amir, has there been any more developments on this.

If Mo Nassir, Darren Edwards, Kevin Evans, or Jamie Crease get gold for Wales (or even not, they have done very well) wouldn't it be great to see them showcase their talent on this Joe Calzaghe card in Cardiff.

Anyone know if this Pro-Am thing will happen, I think it would be great.

A great idea. A top amateur gets a place on a big bill, maybe a swing bout b4 the main event. He does well, and puts ona great show. Thus folk will remember his name, and tune in when he fights on TV in the amateurs, i.e. the ABAs. Thus the coverage for amateur boxing will increase (in an ideal world)

I think this sort of exposure and agreements similar will benefit Boxing in the long run, particularly Amateur Boxing.

Boxingchat,

Would appreciate a response from you regarding my opening post.

Please note, its a question and not a dig.

Is Frank still planning on doing something with the ABA's concerning Pro-Am's. Or is it not going to happen now? If not, is it because he has got his man?
