Brandon Rios vs Aaron Herrera June 11 Fox Sports 1

Post by psychod1986 »

It has been over 18 months since Brandon Rios has stepped inside a ring. The 10 round will air live on FS1. That drought will end June 11, as he returns to the ring for one more attempt at a big fight. Rios will square off against Aaron Herrera at the Pioneer Events Center in Lancaster, California.Rios has not fought since November 7 of 2015, when he was stopped in round nine at the hands of Timothy Bradley.

Doubt he has much left to give at this point, but he's always been fun to watch for the most part so I'll tune in.

Yeah that ranks among the worst decisions I've ever seen. Abril won at least 10 out of the 12 rounds that night in my opinion. Absolutely despicable robbery, nobody who watched had any doubt in their minds who won.

The guy practically admitted that the only reason he fights is because his wife makes him. He's not ever coming back at the elite level.

I dont know much about this guy, but if he's decent I think he'll win. Rios is toast.

Not at 147, but he was formidable at 135.

Never in his career could Rios be accurately described as "elite." "Formidable" is tolerable.

I'd consider anyone in the top 10 of their division elite, and Rios, IIRC, was rated top 10 after he beat Acosta, Antillon, Murray, and Peterson.

It is often under appreciated by Boxing fans just how hard it is to become a Top 10 ranked fighter. When you consider each weight class has about 1500 or more active fighters campaigning in it at any one given time from all over the world, to be able to rise to the Top 10 of that is no small feat.

It's more often that some just hate a fighter and never want to give him props. Rios was a very good fighter at LW. I think some had him #1 in the division too, and he had a very, very good chance of knocking out Gamboa if they fought when it was discussed.

I call anyone in the top 10 of their division an elite fighter. I couldn't agree more with what you said.
