Re: Amir Khan loses again
Only Khan, Brook, their solicitors and the promoter really know what went on in negotiations and they all have an axe to grind so any public pronouncements they make on the matter should be taken with a pinch of salt. Everybody else is just guessing.
I think Khan finds particularly distasteful the way that Brook and particularly Hearn have made personal attacks on him safely tucked away in a room with Kugan and would rather cut off his nose to spite his face than give them a payday.
Khan doesn't need the money, he's a bigger draw than Brook and he has wider interests outside boxing that keep him busy (insert your own wanking joke here).
There are real paralleles with the Hatton Witter situation here. I don't see this fight ever being made.

Re: Amir Khan loses again
Rather than actually trying to be a top welterweight. Brilliant. Khan fought everyone at 140 at the time, he was what a champion should be. Brook has never been interested in that, he just wanted the easy pay day against a fighter who's never even proven himself at the weight class. Khan will be rightly remembered much better than Brook as Brook will just be forgotten now.bigjack wrote:Mandatory fights can be put off by paying step aside money,he could have fought Khan straight after Jo Jo Dan,and the reason he wanted Khan so much is to get, wait for it,A BIG PAYDAYTheDarkDestroyer wrote:Brook had to fight a mandatory after beating Porter. And I always thought it was about trying to be the best fighter in your division. I have paid perfectly close attention. Brook has been wanting this fight for years because of the money rather than trying to cement his own legacy. Khan has never been a top welterweight, that Brook has been begging for the fight proves he had no interest in being the best at his weight.bigjack wrote:You really haven't paid much attention the whole Khan v Brook thing have you, what's so bad about wanting to fight Khan for a big payday,i always thought that was the whole idea of boxing ?TheDarkDestroyer wrote:Rather than actually trying to be a top welterweight. As you said before,Brook had 2 mandatory fights to take care of,then stepped up just like many great fighters have in the past, failed but got a big payday, then against his own teams advice he took on his mandatory again, wouldn't have been a massive payday but in his own words'i wanted to prove i'm the best welterweight',i fail to see why you struggle to understand all thisTheDarkDestroyer wrote:And I always thought it was about trying to be the best fighter in your division. Re: Amir Khan loses again
Yes they were but he fought Gavin in between them, why did he choose a meaningless Gavin fight instead of putting on a show against a top ranked welter? He's never been interested in fighting the best. He wanted Khan cause it's an easy win and pay day. I have no respect for that at all. Khan fought the top LWWs as champion and went straight in against the number one when he lost, if only Brook had that ambition. Khan was twice the champion Brook was. It just makes me sad knowing that when they do fight Brook is too big and too good for him, I'd love to see Khan beat him.bigjack wrote:TheDarkDestroyer wrote:He didn't have two mandatory fights. Of course he will. Khan is now fighting for the best money available. Re: Amir Khan loses again
The Brook Khan fight has lost some of its appeal IMO. It's still a good fight and it'll sell but if Eddie is thinking of making it a stadium type fight then he's gonna have to crank the Matchroom hype machine up a few notches. Kell has now lost his last two both by stoppage via injuries. Khan hasn't fought in over a year since a bad KO and doesn't seem to have anything in the pipeline. The fight might not even happen now because I'm sure all involved will already have a certain number in mind with regards to money and the fight isn't as big as it was a year or two ago. I always say you strike while the irons hot in boxing and Brook/Khan might have missed their chance. Hopefully it still happens but all parties involved will need to alter their position money wise.

This,Khan won't back down on the money as he is delusional as far as his own worth is concerned and the figures won't add up,should have struck while the iron was hot as Stuarty said.
Re: Amir Khan loses again
I think both lads will regret not making the fight 2 years ago in a few years time, it could have been huge outdoor event but will now be just a grudge thing at the MEN forStuarty30 wrote:The Brook Khan fight has lost some of its appeal IMO. way less cash.
Re: Amir Khan loses again
After 2 back to back stoppage and career threatening facial injuries. Khan now really fancies his chances and wants to make it happen...
Problem is after Amir Khans years of self enforced inactivity chasing a big fight with any big names except Kell Brook and his own brutal knockout defeats. I think everyone else has lost all interest.
Maybe if they got Hatton/Witter or Bowe//Lewis on the undercard, I'd be interested.

I suspect that PPV or TV money is the biggest part of the revenue a fight produces in all but the Wembley spectacular type shows and as such it's more important to ask whether people would switch their tv on to watch Khan rather than who would buy a ticket for the fight. I think more people will tune in to watch Amir simply because more people have heard of him both here and in USA and so in that regard yes I think he's a bigger draw than Brook.Tuan_Jim wrote: Is Khan a bigger draw than Brook? Khan is known for avoiding British fighters in case he loses to one and becomes 2nd best in Britain. Khan v Brook would not be PPV, top of the bill fight only and the loser would have to retire. There wasnt much chance of it coming off before, and a lot less chance of it happening now.bigjack wrote:I don't know what that means?TheDarkDestroyer wrote:bigjack wrote:

Khan's profile has really dipped although I think Brook hasn't got the best W's on his CV he would beat Khan because he lacks power at 47 to trouble him !
