"Experts" & experts on this forum ?

Post by ValMar »

What do you think about the self-proclaimed experts on this forum ? Should they asked to be paid because of spreading their knowledge ?

I just watch their numbers and make my own conclusion:

I personally don't know much about boxing, except when it comes to the heavyweights, only Klitschko is a little hard to predict sometimes.

I must say, I carefully watch all the numbers, not like who got what rank.
I think Fisto is one of the, if not the best predicter on the forum.

I'm just a fan with a passion for Boxing. The last True Boxing expert I'd would say was Gil Clancy. But he's long gone. May he RIP.

I am just a fan, too. I have a lot of respect for experts, but I am fed up of "experts".

There are no experts. Everyone gets predictions wrong. There are knowledgeable people though.

Never listen to any "self-proclaimed" experts ...

... here or anywhere else ...

... and never, ever pay them for what they say ...

... ('cause you'll probably just get jipped) ...

Getting predictions right doesn't make anyone an expert. I only know of one expert, and he's not on this forum. I can already tell that there are no experts here. Laughable p4p lists on this forum.

Perhaps. They are just as good or bad as the "real" experts. Its only a stupid sport people, not a rocket science. A good forum poster here is more knowledgeable then an average SKY pundit former boxer.

And posters on this forum are less knowledgeable than people who know the history and are paid to write articles on boxing.

Some payed writers are good, most are average, few are complete idiots. Just like forum posters.

Only problem with that is if it is mostly just luck some will still do better by chance, but they may not continue to get it right.

I remember hearing about a book that looked at the actions of various companies that consistantly outperformed the market, when someone looked a few years later they weren't in general.

I don't know if there are any posters I'd call experts, though some are very knowledgeable.

I consider myself a fairly well informed fan of the sport and a pretty good judge, though I have limited interest in the lower weight classes and my historical knowledge is well below that of many others on the forums.
