WHO WINS? James DeGale vs. George Groves 2

I wonder if Groves has earned enough to comfortably retire? He's always struck me as a very intelligent and emotional guy, he's finally climbed the mountain after so many disappointments and he sure as hell wouldn't like to risk losing his title to Degale at the first point down. He already beat Chunky in the am's and the pro's albeit a long time ago so its not like he has a monkey on his back about it and a future bout would no doubt stir up a lot of old bad feelings. He also seems to be still affected by the Gutnecht situation and thats a terrible cross to bear despite no blame attached to himself. Anyone else think he may just walk away earlier than expected?

For what its worth I think that James and George will meet again....but this time it will be about doing good, profitable business with each other.

Sure we'll get some sharp words to sell the fight (they need folk to watch and buy in big numbers) but they're no longer young pros with London gym spats to resolve and for both guys while the end is not exactly nigh; it is at least in sight and must be a consideration.

And in all likelihood both guys probably realise that the other is his best option in terms of securing genuine, financial security.

"I need you and you need me."

It is probably inaccurate to draw a parallel with the second Benn-Eubank encounter, mainly because Benn was never in the mood to forgive and absolutely had Eubank in his sights.

But there are certain similarities as well - longish careers already under their belts - and a realisation that the other guy could put the best money in your own bank account.

That may also leave Callum Smith waiting patiently for the outcome.

Up until DeGale fought Jack I would've picked James to beat George with something to spare but I fear that fight has taken a lot out of James.

George on points for me, a bit wider than their first fight.

This is a fight where the trainers can really make a diffence and whilst i really rate shane mcguigan i think that without the guile and tactics of adam booth george will come up a wee bit short. Degale on points for me

I'm interested in how Degale looks next time, assuming he's not facing a scrub. The Jack fight was grueling, and he looked pretty average before that against a guy who was just destroyed by David Benavidez.

Not that anyone gives a f*ck but I watched the first bout just after I'd moved to Santa Barbara in California.

Since then I've moved to Goleta, Fort Lauderdale, Bonita Beach, Naples, Sarasota & now St Petersburg.

My next door neighbour's cat would beat DeGale based upon his latest showing.

He does appear to be slowing down.

All his fights are hard slogs these days & every time you have a hard fight, it ages you even more.

It's amazing how tides can turn in such a short space of time.
