JDJ tried to jump the ship to Ward

Wow! Not sure why Kovalev is still keeping him, especially as he expressed his unhappiness with Jackson multiple times in his Russian language interviews. He was basically saying that JDJ is just holding pads for him.

What a bullshit. Kovalev didn't pick his trainer for political correctness reasons. He is a lone wolf and can't work with tough trainers like Turner or Sanchez, so his choices are limited. I think he should try Roach.

Definitely late for the Ward fight. I am wondering if JDJ gave Ward's team any advice regarding Kovalev's weaknesses.Tanzio wrote:It is a tad late for that.boxing_rocks wrote:What a bullshit. Read what I wrote again and this time comprehend the thoughts that are actually being conveyed and then revise your response accordingly, since it seems you've impulsively and prematurely responded to an assumption that has never been sincerely proposed.boxing_rocks wrote:What a bullshit. Why would I read all your brain diarrhea? Jackson says it never happened that way. It was Ward's camp contacted him to demoralize Kovalev.

This is just more lowly, dishonorable head games from Ward's management (probably James Prince).

By your own admission, you prefer to criticise something out of ignorance rather than making an effort to understand the truth beforehand, which can only serve to erode your credibility.
You won't argue with me on this matter, because you know for certain that I am armed with a whole host of facts that you can neither undermine and nor can you justify or endorse Sergey's own words, so instead you attempt to employ diversionary tactics to divert the attention away from Kovalev's indefensible behaviour, by insulting me personally.
Does the truth hurt too much, kid?

Re: JDJ tried to jump the ship to Ward
I know for certain that you are acutely aware of the multiple instances where Sergey Kovalev has blatantly behaved like a racist.boxing_rocks wrote:I just know that I am dealing with an idiot writing long posts, so why would I read them?
You know that these situations have occurred, so you won’t attempt to refute them, because you realise that this would be a futile exercise.
You also appreciate the simple fact that you cannot attempt to justify or endorse Sergey Kovalev’s long-term bigoted behaviour, since his actions are not only inexcusable, but by attempting to defend them would almost certainly result in portraying yourself as a fellow-racist.
So what can you do to deter me from reminding the forum that Sergey Kovalev is a racist?
Well it seems that you’ve resorted to attacking the arguer and not the argument, since you’re hoping that people will choose to ignore my factually-correct claims and attack me instead, therefore diverting the topic of conversation away from the Russian’s undeniable racist actions.
Sergey Kovalev is a racist and the fact that you have chosen to insult me personally, instead of attempting to undermine this rather simple fact of reality, actually implies that you also believe the Russian to be a racist!
Thanks for agreeing with me kid!

For Ward's team, it is clearly America vs Russia, and RN is paying from its own pocket. No need to promote.

Re: JDJ tried to jump the ship to Ward
Interesting article. Based on this quote from the end it sounds like there could be a racial element to their problem:boxing_rocks wrote:http://www.BS.com/kovalev-trai ... am--117068
Wow! Not sure why Kovalev is still keeping him, especially as he expressed his unhappiness with Jackson multiple times in his Russian language interviews. He was basically saying that JDJ is just holding pads for him.
If that's true I could easily see why JDJ would want to jump ship!!And of course, Kovalev has been under fire, more than once, over controversial posts on social media that some felt were racial in nature.
Re: JDJ tried to jump the ship to Ward
Kovalev strikes me as man who has no filter in addition to having a sense of humour that is, for lack of a better word, not politically correct. His racist words and humour are in poor taste and to some inexcusable, a hardened upbringing on the streets of Russia is where this language may have come from. Saying that I'm not excusing it just trying to understand it. His street language and sense of humour portray him as a racist (at times) yet his alliance with head trainer John David Jackson and notable friendship with Bernard Hopkins speak otherwise.Enlightened-One wrote:Sergey Kovalev simply wanted a black US figurehead leading his training team as a token gesture to create the impression that he is "fond" of Americans and to also deflect any widespread and regular accusations of any racism on his part, due to his bigoted actions outside the ring.
I can imagine him saying "Look everyone... I can't be racist against 'thoroughbred ni**a tanned monkeys', because I employ one... and I even feed him 'bananas', despite the 'dark-skinned talking a lot and earning easy money'!"
At least he can still use Kathy Duva to deflect any criticism he regularly receives for his misogynistic actions (since she can't be at "home" doing the housework whilst she's also promoting his fights).![]()
Just kidding... kind of.
Inside the ring, Sergey Kovalev is a fantastic fighter that deserves to receive a lot of respect for his sporting ability and willingness to take on all-comers, but outside the ring... the man's a fûckîng self-harming lunatic!
He makes so many mistakes outside the ring, painting himself in such a horrendously-awful light that it has actually rendered him as distinctly unlikable!
His brand worth is negligible, since no business would want to use his fûckîng disgraceful name to help promote their goods... unless you're the manufacturer of one of those conical hats/hoods worn by the KKK!
Casual fight fans that don't really follow the sport of boxing closely, those that only care about the fights will inevitably support 'Krusher', but the hardcore fraternity... I'm not so sure... unless a simple-minded handful of them possess the same distinctly awful mind-set as Kovalev.
Note: There's a reason why I intentionally highlighted several words in bold and also underlined them, it's because they're closely linked to Kovalev's name. Google them and you'll very quickly appreciate the reasons why.
For the record, I don't expect many people to respond to this post, because they would prefer to live in ignorant bliss by continuing to support Kovalev for purely his fighting ability, since they would inevitably feel compelled to appreciate that they can neither undermine my claims and nor can they justify or endorse Sergey's actions.
I believe you were joking or kind of joking saying John David Jackson is merely a shield to protect Kovalev from public scorn and for him to be allowed to continue being a racist. To suggest Jackson, (himself an ex boxing champion), would allow himself to be used for the 5 or more years he has been head trainer as a smoke screen is offensive and frankly, silly and your joke is in very poor taste. That is what you have in common with Kovalev perhaps.
Who knows really if Kovalev is a racist. Do actions speak lounder than words (partnership with John David Jackson), or is this a type of Russian street talk he grew up? Although inexcusable, what is the street talk revealing? Real prejudicial, racist sentiment? Does he/did he speak that way because he doesnt like the person rather than doesnt like that person because of race or sex. Generally, the racist comments he has made have been about opponents. Either way, I don't support the mistakes he's made and I hope he doesn't continue to make them.

That's no excuse for his behaviour. He can't apologise and then keep repeating the same "crime" over-and-over again.lazboy wrote:Kovalev strikes me as man who has no filter in addition to having a sense of humour that is, for lack of a better word, not politically correct.
He's been living in the US for almost a decade and the fact that his English is so incredibly poor (he still needs a translator for some of his interviews FFS!) means that he doesn't integrate with the American community, which is not good considering they are the people funding his paydays.lazboy wrote:His racist words and humour are in poor taste and to some inexcusable, a hardened upbringing on the streets of Russia is where this language may have come from. Saying that I'm not excusing it just trying to understand it.
If he did socialise with the American community, after living on US soil for almost a decade, then it is reasonable to expect him to have the common decency to tailor his behaviour according to the social norms of the Western world.
Having a professional relationship with someone and also respecting someone else’s sporting ability (not genuine friendship) does not dismiss the likelihood that he is racist, since they can co-exist.lazboy wrote:His street language and sense of humour portray him as a racist (at times) yet his alliance with head trainer John David Jackson and notable friendship with Bernard Hopkins speak otherwise.
Sergey Kovalev and Bernard Hopkins are not friends. They may be on "friendly" terms, but they are not friends.
This "joke" was a half-truth. Sergey Kovalev is notoriously difficult to work with and John David Jackson concedes that the Russian doesn’t always listen to him. I do believe that his American head trainer is merely a figurehead, but I am not convinced that he’s solely being used to deflect accusations of racism.lazboy wrote:I believe you were joking or kind of joking saying John David Jackson is merely a shield to protect Kovalev from public scorn and for him to be allowed to continue being a racist.
Of course I was joking, kind of… since Sergey Kovalev can still be a racist even if he employs hundreds of black people.
My "jokey" comment was intentionally provocative, since I genuinely believe that Sergey Kovalev is a racist, based on a long-term proven track record of poor behaviour, which has been well-documented and is easily verifiable.lazboy wrote:To suggest Jackson, (himself an ex boxing champion), would allow himself to be used for the 5 or more years he has been head trainer as a smoke screen is offensive and frankly, silly and your joke is in very poor taste. That is what you have in common with Kovalev perhaps.
If you genuinely believe that my words are deeply offensive and in poor taste, then you should be utterly outraged by some of Sergey Kovalev’s antics, but somehow that doesn’t appear to be the case.
It suggests that you’re more offended about the person that attacks the racist than the racist himself.
In terms of my pretend Kovalev quote, it was my intention to attack Kovalev himself using his own words, since the underlined bold words were extracts from several racist comments that Sergey actually articulated... research them yourself and let me know if you still believe my criticism to be so unreasonable?
Regardless, I am absolutely delighted that you’re offended by my “joke”, since a lot of the words I used were sourced originally from Sergey Kovalev himself.
Sergey Kovalev keeps making racist comments. If he’s not racist, then he’s a fúckíng stupid cúnt!lazboy wrote:Who knows really if Kovalev is a racist.
To repeat myself, many racists have to maintain professional business relationships with the racial groups that they abhor and living in the US for almost a decade should dismiss the “he’s just a dumb foreigner who doesn’t understand America yet” justification.lazboy wrote:Do actions speak lounder than words (partnership with John David Jackson), or is this a type of Russian street talk he grew up?
I don’t care about his motives. He’s a racist piece of shít!lazboy wrote:Although inexcusable, what is the street talk revealing? Real prejudicial, racist sentiment? Does he/did he speak that way because he doesnt like the person rather than doesnt like that person because of race or sex.
Who said these words?
“I'm not a racist, I know that everywhere there are good and bad guys, but the ‘tanned’ every day I like less. I live in Florida, there are many illegal immigrants, natives, I can see how they behave.”
Do your research like I have done and your outlook will inevitably change on the matter.lazboy wrote:Generally, the racist comments he has made have been about opponents. Either way, I don't support the mistakes he's made and I hope he doesn't continue to make them.
If a person keeps committing the same “crime” over-and-over again… and they also articulate their racist words in writing, which clearly requires a premeditated decision, then their offensive words cannot be excused as simply Tourette’s Syndrome-like “mistakes”!
I respect the fact that you were brave enough to attempt to defend Sergey Kovalev’s reputation, but it disappoints me that you seem more offended about the person attacking the racist than the person that has a long-term proven track record of being a racist.
Nothing that I said was even remotely close to being as offensive as some of the shít uttered by Sergey Kovalev, but you defend him whilst attacking me for my “offensive” words that you deem to be in “poor taste”... to the point that you actually have the sheer audacity to compare my behaviour to someone that is proven to be a long-term racist!
You previously claimed that “actions speak louder than words”, so what does that say about someone that chooses to support a racist, by defending them, whilst attacking their disparagers?

Re: JDJ tried to jump the ship to Ward
Your position is, Kovalev is a racist. Mine is, Kovalev may or may not be a racist. You present a rigid argument. Mine is more balanced. Both of us agree that his comments are inappropriate. You have admitted that your joke was intentionally provocative. You have not acknowledged that it was and could be offensive to me. Your joke and your rebuttal both imply that John David Jackson is an Uncle Tom. I acknowledge that Sergery Kovalevs words are inappropriate, I also acknowledge that your joke was inappropriate. Furthermore; you have attacked me for raising this.Enlightened-One wrote:
