Opinions pleaseeeeee.... Who is the hardest hitting puncher at 147?
So who do you guys think the top 3 hardest punchers are at 147? Heres my list:
1) Spence
2) Brook
3) Thurman
I know its been said that Thurman hits harder than spence. Thats what Bundu said which i find ironic being that Spence kod Bundu bad and went the distance with Thurman. Chris Algieri also said that Provodnikov hits harder than spence and again spence kod him and he not only went the distance with Provodnikov but beat him as well. What do you guys think?

I always find power a subjective topic to talk about. Short of guys punching pressure pads for precise results there are many variables in power. Namely speed. Technique as well. And what the guy is doing opposite you to counter it.
Spence looked a big puncher to me. But he didn't look like the second coming of tommy Hearns type power. But it was solid concussive power, target driven break you down type power.
Brook is also a decent puncher at the top level. There were a couple occasions where brook applied pressure and big punching and spence didn't look to be enjoying it. But spences own body work sapped this away from brook that he really couldn't keep spence off him in the end
Thurman looked a genuine knockout artist. Kind of a mini David haye. But at the elite level his power looks good, but again not amazing.
Off the top of my head I'm not really sure if there are bigger punchers currently at 147
Madiana was but he's retired. Lucas mattyesse punches big, certainly at 140.

I totally agree with this, which is the precise reason i was wondering what everyone thinks with everything you wrote taking into consideration. So with everything you wrote who would be your top 3 punchers at 147?Ossyrules wrote:I always find power a subjective topic to talk about. Egidijus Kavaliauskas in 3 years will be top 5 hardest punchers and Carlos Adames in 4 years if both keep their good boxing and punching, until this doesn't happen I vote for Spence as hardest puncher at 147 then Thurman. And Thurman for most complete at 147 in terms of general skills.

Good call. Egidijus is probably the hardest puncher at WW currently.imaioral wrote:Egidijus Kavaliauskas in 3 years will be top 5 hardest punchers and Carlos Adames in 4 years if both keep their good boxing and punching, until this doesn't happen I vote for Spence as hardest puncher at 147 then Thurman. what about Matthysse ?

Powerful, certainly, but he should face some big WWs in order to prove himself.Cent0089 wrote:what about Matthysse ?

Take Brook off that list for goodness sake.. he has never really hurt and certainly never KO'd a very good fighter. infact out of the 3 he's fought he's lost 2 of them. Replace him with Danny Garcia or mathyesse
Re: Opinions pleaseeeeee.... Who is the hardest hitting puncher at 147?
Spence is definitely #1, Thurman is definitely #2. I am not sure for the third postion, maybe Garcia.........
Re: Opinions pleaseeeeee.... Who is the hardest hitting puncher at 147?
Garcia is not top 3 most powerful welter

Without looking into the rankings too much to see if anyone I've missed I'd be tempted to go with your 3. But again I'm not seeing tommy Hearns or Trinidad lights out power. But these 3 hit hard.suffolkbull3 wrote:I totally agree with this, which is the precise reason i was wondering what everyone thinks with everything you wrote taking into consideration. I'm not sure he's the hardest puncher, he may be, but spence being dangerous to the head or body, close or at range, makes him the most dangerous puncher imo. I say this pretty much solely on the brook fight
