Amir Khan names dates for next three fights

The 30 year-old, last fought in losing to Canelo Alvarez in devastating fashion a year ago having since struggled to nail down an opponent.

Khan is now observing the Muslim religious holy month of Ramadan which began on May 26 running until June 24, meaning any camp for a return to action is impossible until late summer.

The Briton has confirmed he will make his comeback by November or December before fighting again the following spring and completing three fights in twelve months in late 2018.

Should ‘King’ Khan manage to follow through with his intentions, it would represent the first time the Bolton man has fought three times in a year since 2011/2012. During that period, Khan lost to Lamont Peterson in December 2011, before being halted by Danny Garcia in July 2012 and eventually defeating Carlos Molina in December 2012 to turn his fortunes around.

Next fights will be:
November / December 2017.
April/May 2018.
November / December 2018.

Potential opponents for this year are anyone’s guess, although those dates are not consistent with staging a massive all-UK encounter with Kell Brook at an open-air stadium in his home country next time out.

Brook could be back fighting again around the same time as Khan having suffered a crushing reverse against Errol Spence following surgery on his broken eye socket. Any December Brook v Khan bout would be more likely to head to the O2 Arena in London or Manchester Arena though.

Back-to-back defeats for Brook may well have demoted the contest from the Wembley Stadium stage, although with the correct build-up - and possibly a fight in-between for both, mid-May 2018 could be the ideal time for promoter Eddie Hearn to seal the deal.

Both fighters could potentially share a bill once the new season gets in full swing but much will depend on Brook’s plans to move up to 154 or whether he can delay super-welterweight for a further year.

Yeah it'll be a safe bet next up. Mind you Diaz was supposed to be a straight forward win a few years back and that nearly went tits up! He was gash against Algieri as well.

Wouldn't mind seeing Peterson again myself mate. Really enjoyed the first fight. I had Khan by a couple in that one but Peterson fought quite well after a whore of a first round lol.

Fighting 3 times a year normally means from January through December of the same year. Khan will probably fight once more if he takes on a heavy hitter, but he won't. Probably call Paulie out.

If, and it's a big if, he did schedule 3 fights one of his first two opponents would de rail him anyway.

To be fair... when Mayweather signed a fight deal with Sho committing to 6 fights or so... x2 fights per year, i laughed at it, given how inactive he was. But, he filled that schedule.

I think 3 fights is all Khan has left - he hardly seems like the type of fighter who loves the sport and is dreading the day he hangs up his gloves.

He'll take an easy tune-up fight, followed by a relatively big name journeyman, and finally (all going to plan) cash out of the sport vs Brook.

Lamont Peterson, Kell Brook and Manny Pacquiao would be very likely opponents.

Maybe someone fringe like Van Heerden first, followed by a solid 'name' like Andre Berto or Luis Collazo and then finish up with Brook who will have rebuilt his reputation with a couple of decent wins...
