Ward Kovalev Rematch

Post by Taansend »

I thought Kovalev edged the first fight but I think Ward will control the rematch.

I want to be wrong though :D

Ward should be good enough to make the necessary adjustments and take the rematch on points. I thought Kov won the first one myself. I want Kov to KO him but Ward is a smart fighter. I'll be surprised if Kov wins the rematch tbh.

Ward will continue were he left off.. He walked into a punch, which dropped him.. Legal knockdown, fought back, and won..

He will go on the inside again and attack the body. Kovalev's inside work is crap.

If Kov doesn't gas and picks up the middle rounds I can see the judges trying to even it out and give the W to Kov

Kovalev. better boxer, faster, better workrate, the puncher in there. He'll keep the pressure on this time, take a few more chances, cut the ring off better. Might be close again though.

Too close to call, yet. I can literally envision any scenario going down in this fight with the exception of SOGgy stopping Krusher inside 9.

The adjustments will be telling.

Ward is very intellegent and will have noted what worked and what didn't from the first fight and will come in perfectly prepared to edge a decision.

Kovalev I suspect will approach it thinking he has to be more aggressive and start walking into traps (unless he manages to land something huge of course)

Thought Kovalev narrowly edged the first fight, but no quibble over the result.

This time I hope he stops Ward, but I'm not overly optimistic.

I can see kovalev going for the stoppage here just to take it out of the judges hands,he may even gas out and ward will pick him apart. I think kovalev tho

I thought Ward edged the first fight.

I see a similar pattern in this one but without a knockdown.

I can see Ward in a 116-112 type decision.

Personally would enjoy to see a Kov win though.

think they will both be aware of what they need to do to improve on their last fight but Ward is the more adaptable for me and should take it on points again

Don't forget the Chilemba fight.

Kovalev seems to struggle against negative spoilers.

If Krusher comes out to blow SOGgy away and fails, yes the man from Oakland may well grind him into pulp and flush him in the last quarter.

And according to my daughter I actually coined the term hipster.

Think Ward is gona do him again and by a wider margin this time unless Kovalev brings a different strategy to the table. Rightly or wrongly I had it for Ward by a round.

Anybody think that the approach to Jackson from Ward's team will have negatively affected Kovalev's training camp ?

Seems Ward is trying everything in an attempt to get an advantage here. I feel like he wants to prove that he can win without controversy, but that he believes the only way to do that is for Kovalev to be off his game.

In my view, Ward can't win this fight decisively, because he'd have to throw more and engage more if he wants to outland Kovalev to win rounds clearly. But he can't stay out of trouble enough by doing that. Most of the rounds were close last time, but I can't remember even one that Ward won clearly.

Has anybody seen that build-up show where they have a load of "expert" talking heads going on about what a masterful performance of true greatness from genius Ward and how Kovalev is a bully who pissed down his leg?

It is a disgraceful piece of bullshit propoganda. I'd love to see Ward KO'd. He's a dick.
