Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
All the good fighters' management saying "no" is not a good excuse?

I think he only does 7,000 in Sheffield now.
They were billing him to be a stadium fighter - can't see that happening unless he has Khan as a dancing partner but even then its Khan who brings the bums onto seats (to an extent)
Kell Brook is a money fighter now - matchroom invested heavily in him, they won't release him to a top dog unless top dollar is paid - once he loses, they'll be shipping him to the states no problem at all.

I'm a fan of Brook as a fighter but I have to agree here. Beyond a joke!Horse wrote:Sign the contract you tedious bore!

***2017 update.***
His last fight was entertaining, but as his career looks to be heading towards the end: Has his 13 year career been a bore?
I'd say for the most part it has been rather boring.

13 years of nothing.. he's the same age as Khan, Brook spent too many years aiming for regional titles, whereas Khan won a world title at 22 or 24 I believe..Horse wrote:***2017 update.***

Warren focused more on Khan..
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
The thread title is clearly an exaggeration but you'd have to say there could have been more big fights out there for Kell.
In short it was too long to get to the top. Though for years he was in the "who needs him club", similarly like witter as the big name before him from the wincobank gym. Very good boxers, very awkward, every chance you'll look bad in a bad fight vs them, not much of a draw, not bringing much money into the equation, high risk low reward. But the fact of the matter is it took a long time getting there.
At the top has stuttered with a stabbing, now both eyes will have been operated on... he won't be all that active and it's questionable how many fights left at the top he has left. Hopefully he can rebuild.
It's frustrating for sure, but there's plenty worse and less ambitious than brook

He could still have a good end portion of his career and finish strong. If he heals up and heads to 154 then there are some good fights there for him.

Are there?Ossyrules wrote:It's frustrating for sure, but there's plenty worse and less ambitious than brook
Considering how much ability he was considered to have: How many more fighters have shown less ambition than Brook in recent years?
Was he ever as good as he was considered to be?
Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
He went up 2 divisions to fight golovkin. It's an insult really to call brook not ambitions and write that off as a cash out and nothing else. People don't understand the mindset of a professional champion.Horse wrote:Are there?Ossyrules wrote:It's frustrating for sure, but there's plenty worse and less ambitious than brook

It's frustrating as hell for sure how it's panned out but he's not boring or not interested in challenges.
As for his talent, so many people in British boxing rave about what he can do in the boxing ring. Unfortunately I have some doubts we'll see that now after his last 2 fights. I hope we can.
Eubank jr off the top off my head. There's a guy that actually turns down big fights

It was pathetic.
Eubank Jr has been a pro for less than 6 years.Ossyrules wrote:It's frustrating as hell for sure how it's panned out but he's not boring or not interested in challenges.

2. Your thread title is "most boring active boxer". Suggest you change it to most boring active boxer 7 years +
Eubank has been offered 2 world title shots and turned them down. 1 (being golovkin) was the biggest challenge in boxing. Once in a lifetime shot at a guy with his historical value. Turned them down

Re: Is Kell Brook Britain's most boring active boxer careerwise?
It was frustrating that he spent his time chasing Khan, who has never proved himself at welterweight, rather than chasing top fights for himself.

Brook never seemed to have much ambition.

I don't think so, I don't recall him ever calling anyone out other Khan but I'm more than prepared to be proven wrong about that.Horse wrote:Did he ever call out Mayweather or Pacquiao?Covfefe wrote:It was frustrating that he spent his time chasing Khan, who has never proved himself at welterweight, rather than chasing top fights for himself.
