Chris Eubank Jr. vs. Arthur Abraham?

Post by Enlightened-One »

I've read a lot of articles this afternoon that were strongly speculating the likelihood of this fight.

Thoughts?

AA big punch and has a name ... he's getting on and wasn't the most accurate prime but known for his power definitely.
CEJR has shown flashes of potential, the loss to BJS didn't help things.
Will it be target practice for CEJR ... perhaps.
Will it be entertaining is another question.

Abraham is so shot it's going to be an easy win for Eubank. When is Chris going to face a legit 168lber?

I'd be surprised if this fight happens.

Eubank Jnr seems to waste more time talking about fights than actually fighting.

I'd expect some ridiculous fight next, that moves a guy up from Light Middle/Middle to SMW or a catchweight - along the lines of Daniel Geale or some unknown European.

If Eubank Jnr is disciplined he'll be too busy for AA. AAs work rate has always been poor even in his prime. AAs best chance would be catching Jnr if he gets reckless, which is a possibility. It's an interesting enough fight I suppose. Better than 90% of the crap Jnr has been fighting. That Ozzie guy was rank.

It's not the most inspiring match up. Paul smith almost beat Abraham. He's had a long career and some tough wars.

I'd take eubank on a decision as a much fresher busier guy

Arthur Abraham is shot and he's getting more and more shot with every fight. He should probably retire. He's 37 but looks like he's 47.

Eubank Jnr doesn't have much power but he's got on of the best gas tanks in boxing and he's also got a decent chin. He wont be able to stop Arthur Abraham. The fight is guaranteed to go to points. Eubank Jnr just has to make sure the fights not over in Germany.

According to German newspapers the fight will be in London in July.

Not a good fight for a faded Abraham. Eubank should be able to pick him apart the whole fight. I wouldn't be shocked if Eubank stops him late.

Abraham, shot or whatever is a good win for Jr. mo matter what.. A big name for his resume..

It would be a repeat of Abraham-Zurdo.. unless Abraham tries..

Considering he was calling out golovkin, degale, jack, groves... all live champion opponents, fighting Abraham doesn't really match up to his mouth. Abraham is clearly a faded fighter. Nearly turned over by smith, arguably should have been by Murray, beaten up by Ramirez, and he's still fading.

It's a step up from quinlon but let's be realistic. It's not Abraham that's just smashed up Miranda

Eubank Jr. was moderately impressive in his most recent fight, against an opponent that was in survival mode for the entire duration of the contest, in a bout that should have been stopped a few rounds sooner.

However, one of the flaws that the Brit showed during that fight was related to his reluctance or inability to throw straight right hands, which was due to a long-term hyperextended elbow injury that Eubank Jr. suffers on his right arm.

Eubank Jr. has had to adapt his style to cater for this impediment, subsequently resulting in him throwing too many uppercuts, which are incredibly difficult shots to land. This means that (against certain opponents) Chris can be very wasteful and inefficient with his offence.

That being said, Arthur Abraham uses a "peek-a-boo" style defence, which is conveniently vulnerable to uppercuts... and this perfectly suits Eubank Jr's fighting style to a tee.

Whilst Abraham is a big, strong, and heavy-handed 168lb-er, his work-rate is poor, whereas Eubank Jr. possesses one of the very best engines from any world-rated fighter currently competing in the sport of boxing.

I also feel that Eubank Jr. is teak tough, which means that he should be able to cope with any punishment that Abraham is able to dish out.

Even though I don’t consider Eubank Jr. as a stereotypical “big puncher”, I feel that he is capable of stopping Arthur Abraham, by simply dominating his veteran opponent on the judges' scorecards by overwhelming him with his sheer volume of punches, which will inevitably compel either the referee or the Armenian’s cornermen to call a halt to the bout during the final quarter of a relatively one-sided contest.

Always felt Eubank isn't a 168 fighter but think he would out work Abraham over 12 rounds

If I was Eubank I'm working on the jab for this fight. But I doubt that's his game plan. Abraham could bust him up but I think Eubank points is the banker. Honestly think it's a good step up considering who he fought last.

"Eubank Jr vs Abraham IBO title fight on for July, will go out on ITV pay-per-view in UK"

Reports in Germany say the Chris Eubank Jr-Arthur Abraham fight, which was making the rounds a few days ago, is on for July 15 at The SSE Arena. Further reports (thanks, World Boxing) say a big presser will take place soon to officially announce the fight; which is set to go out on the ITV pay-per-view platform Eubank signed on to back in February of this year.

Eubank wins on work rate. Unless he gets caught, this has a 117-111 type decision written all over it for him.
