Jean Pascal vs Eleider Alvarez

Post by Cent0089 »

What do you think about this fight? ....IMO this is the last chance for Pascal to do something serious in sport of boxing. Yes he has solid victories over Dawson, Bute, and putting good effort against Hopkins and Kovalev (1st fight). But if he can beat Alvares, doors will be open to fight with Stevenson. We all know Stevenson doesnt want fight with Kovalev or Ward, but Pascal - Stevenson will be a megafight in Canada and chance for Pascal to become champ once again.

I think that Alvarez can stop Pascal and Stevenson. Alvarez has come along slowly but I think that he is improving with age. He may be vulnerable to the big hitters in the weight class but his skills and gifts are solid.

I love this fight. Pascal is a due who has always been underrated. Even when he beat Chad Dawson (who was top 2 with Hopkins at the time), peoples' opinions on him basically didn't budge. Eleider Alvarez already got some really solid wins over Chilemba and Bute. I think both of these guys are like divisional #6-8. Winner will have a top 5 resume. The best part is that it's really evenly matched, because f*ck mismatches. I'm kind of hoping that Alvarez wins just so that the division has another world class type guy (even though, sadly, Ward, Kovalev, Stevenson, and Alvarez are all 33+, and Beterbiev is 32).

Closing thoughts: all of the top fighters in this division are old as balls and they need to hurry up and fight each other.

Agreed...I think Eleider has a great future as one of the forces at 175!! It's one of the few divisions where his age will NOT work against him. :OhYes:

I'd love to see Jean Pascal pull off the upset against Alvarez. The man is a warrior and took on all comers. You can never, ever, ever say he ever ducked anyone. Stevenson could learn a thing or 2 from Pascal about being a real fighter. I'm sure they'd have similar records if Pascal handpicked his fights the same way Stevenson did. I'm a fan of Pascal. I love a fighter that's willing to take on all challengers win or lose.

Pascal lost clearly to Gonzalez. Who has proven to be not that good a fighter. Alvarez is better than Gonzalez.

Pascal might have his moments early on to keep the fight close. After about the third or fourth round it will be all Alvarez.

It's only close because Pascal might be horribly shot. Alvarez won't ever be an elite in the division. If it wasn't for Stevenson aging, Alvarez wouldn't ever come close to winning a belt. Beterbiev, Gvodzyk, and Bivol all beat Alvarez.

Alvarez looked the best I have ever seen him against Bute. Seems like he is peaking right now. Pascal is on the decline. So are Stevenson and Fonfara for that matter.

Alvarez has been looking better and better recently. He should have too much for a game Pascal.

I agree. However, Pascal has been in with an ATG and a minimum of two more HOFers. It is unlikely that Eleider can offer much that Pascal has not seen. That alone should assure that this fight is no walkover.

Rd 1 = Alvarez comes forward. Quick body jabs. Aggressive. Pascal looking to counter. Feel out round. Big counter right pascal. That shot wins the round for me.

Pascal landed the best punch. Still not enough to win the round.

Pascal has very negative body language. Don't think he want to be here imo. Alvarez looks huge. Don't think this one will last very long. One all. But Alvarez put on a precise beating in the second.

Rd 3 = Alvarez throwing flame. Alvarez careful about counters. Alvarez does not move laterally enough. Wow!!! Total brawl breaks out. Awesome action.

That's what two fights against Krusher do to you. Ward will be shot soon too.

Pascal throws 8 wild punches a round and the crowd roars while he spends every round getting jabbed to death.
