Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Joe Smith ruined Fonfara.
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Fonfara is in the Shot Fighter Category. Sure looked like it tonight.
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Even in victory guys like Campillo, Ngumbu, and Clev teed off on him, and I think his face first style has caught up with him.
KO1 to Smith; unusually hesitant in a come from behind, last round win against shopworn Dawson; now a 2nd round stoppage loss against a guy he previously took the distance.
Expect more stoppage lossess...

Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Fonfara can always rematch with Chavez Jr. they could call it a resurrection fight.
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
You're saying that guy I've never heard of (Bivol), who hasn't beat any guys I've heard of, who even you misspelled his 5-letter name, who only has 10 pro fights... you're saying he beats Stevenson?Mexi-Box wrote:Stevenson looked impressive fighting a guy that's more shot than Pascal?Tanzio wrote:I flipped a coin for a round 2 stoppage and lost. Before tonight I would have favored Eleider Alvarez over Stevenson but after tonight I think Stevenson should be favored. However, Alvarez faced the tougher challenge. I just hope that Stevenson fights either Alvarez or the winner of SOGgy v Krusher.![]()
Biovl, Gvodzyk, and Beterbiev all kill Stevenson.

Maybe this will finally put an end to Fonfara's overrated status from the Chavez Jr fight?crusader wrote:Even in victory guys like Campillo, Ngumbu, and Clev teed off on him, and I think his face first style has caught up with him.

Most undeserving rematch of all time? At least these two took advantage of the crooked system and got paid. That's about the only good to be said.

I'm using a wireless keyboard. It's a little laggy, but if you've never heard of Bivol, you have zero credibility as a hardcore boxing fan. Bivol's best win is a dominant win over Samuel Clarkson who has given other prospects hell and pulled some upsets. He's set to fight Cedric Agnew last I heard who actually was used to cite holes in Kovalev's game.Lackeos wrote:You're saying that guy I've never heard of (Bivol), who hasn't beat any guys I've heard of, who even you misspelled his 5-letter name, who only has 10 pro fights... you're saying he beats Stevenson?Mexi-Box wrote:Stevenson looked impressive fighting a guy that's more shot than Pascal?Tanzio wrote:I flipped a coin for a round 2 stoppage and lost. You should watch Bivol before you even discuss anything at all about him. He's a prospect on the level of Lomachenko, Usyk, Beterbiev, and Derevyanchenko.
Also, what's with this forum? It's right next to a very good database (rankings are oftentimes garbage). I'm surprised how clueless most posters are here.

Stevenson will most likely fight Alvarez. And again unless he slipped much Alvarez is a sure win. Only hope is that Gvozdyk locks the next mandatory spot for WBC title.

Stevenson should really push for the Kovalev v Ward winner
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
i think Eleider can give Adonis a tough night.
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
No one but Fonfara is to blame for the stoppage. A guaranteed payday, no need to prove anything as before. He had no interest in being smart or making a fight of it...
...and Stvenson is not to be messed with, bad combination.

Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Okay, so the fighters you think are great are Bivol, Gvodzyk, Beterbiev, Lomachenko, Usyk, and Derevyanchenko. So, first of all, you have so much regional bias that it's transparent and absurd. You might as well be saying "The best boxers in the world are Yamanaka, Inoue, Ioka, Miura, Uchiyama, Tanaka, and Shiro." Second of all, Samuel Clarkson is a nobody, and a win over him doesn't do anything to qualify a fighter to beat Stevenson, or even accurately judge his skills. That's like saying "Yeah, I think Jack Arnfield would beat Golovkin, because he beat John Ryder; and if you haven't heard of Jack Arnfield, then I can't take you seriously." Third... Bivol isn't as good as Lomachenko, you're just completely f*cking totally wrong about that; and you're not even close to anything resembling right. You could throw a dart at the top 200 p4p rankings and hit a name that is better than Bivol. There's a reason that Bivol's name has only been brought-up in like 3 threads this entire year, whereas people like Stevenson and Lomachenko get brought-up in several different threads everyday.Mexi-Box wrote:I'm using a wireless keyboard. SOGgy grinds him into Maxwell House. Krusher leaves him in a heap.lefthook82 wrote:Stevenson should really push for the Kovalev v Ward winner

I don't think Bivol beats Stevenson. Kovalev and Beterbiev would though and possibly Gvozdyk too.

After more serious beating from Kovalev this time around, SOJudges should stay away from Stevenson.Tanzio wrote:SOGgy grinds him into Maxwell House. Krusher leaves him in a heap.lefthook82 wrote:Stevenson should really push for the Kovalev v Ward winner

Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
I am not necessarily picking Adonis Stevenson to beat Ward or Kovalev. But for those confidently picking Ward and Kovalev to beat Stevenson, how are they going to neutralize his left?

Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
That left needs to land. It was easy to land it on the stiff like Fonfara, but Kova and Ward is a different story. Ward would neutralize it the way Bika did. Kovalev will find his own way likely stopping Stevenson in the process.hulkmaniac wrote:I am not necessarily picking Adonis Stevenson to beat Ward or Kovalev. Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
The first step would be spearing him with their excellent jabs.hulkmaniac wrote:I am not necessarily picking Adonis Stevenson to beat Ward or Kovalev. But for those confidently picking Ward and Kovalev to beat Stevenson, how are they going to neutralize his left?
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
It would also help to move towards his right (not very significant for Adonis as a power shot) as they jab. ..

No, those names just came up in my head because they're all prospects that have been put in tough early. I could've also said Inoue, Higa, and Selby, but they didn't come to me. I didn't say they are the best either. I just said that Bivol is a prospect on their level, meaning he has a high roof and is being put in tough early.Lackeos wrote:Okay, so the fighters you think are great are Bivol, Gvodzyk, Beterbiev, Lomachenko, Usyk, and Derevyanchenko. Bivol is a nobody? You got exposed, and now you're just throwing a hissy fit. People aren't writing threads about him *on here* because not many people seem to be knowledgeable. Look on other forums, and Bivol is a huge name. People weren't writing any threads about Ken Shiro, and he just beat, arguably, the #1 dude in his division, Lopez in only his 9th fight.
Have you watched Bivol fight yet instead of just flapping your wrists? And no, you can't throw a dart and hit someone better than Bivol. There is no man at LHW that I would easily favor over Bivol. Bivol vs. Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev, and Gvodzyk are all 50-50.

Based on what? All he had to show so far is that he knows how to jab, do one-twos and has a decent pop.Mexi-Box wrote:There is no man at LHW that I would easily favor over Bivol. Bivol vs. Ward, Kovalev, Beterbiev, and Gvodzyk are all 50-50.
Re: Stevenson vs Fonfara II
Based on his boxing ability. If you can't see it, it's on you because I'll be right in the long term anyways. Bivol is a fantastic talent, and this site lacks a lot of posters that are credible.boxing_rocks wrote:Based on what?
