Bang on the WBA mandated that. But they do what they want anyway. They mandated Warren and McDonnell last year, Warren turned it down they did nothing.

It should be McDonnell v Zhakiyanov next.

Constantly loses at good level plus he is on a BAD run.

His Fighters fight the same way high guard no head movement do little for the first 6 rounds in big fights. Butler will throw very little in the first half of the fight which is useless as McDonnell has a VERY good fitness and can do the 12 easily.

Jamie would be his biggest win as a trainer by a massive distance.

I've been a fan for ages but Solis pushed him back far too easily. I don't think he would have struggled with Solis as much 2 years ago. Maybe on the slide is a bit far but he is not as good as he was based on that. In activity won't help him. I still think he should beat Butler.

He definitely lost the Solis fight. The first Kameda fight could have gone either way. I thought he won that rematch comfortably. I think he got a very lucky decision over Napa years ago didn't he ???

Not the most talented boxer in the world but has done things the right way winning British, Euro & Commonwealth belts. Beat a very good fighter in Ceja (not an MD, McDonnell won clearly) and went overseas to beat the 'home' fighter on more than one occasion.

I thought he lost both fights with Kameda, and the Solis fight. He lost 3 fights in a row and got the decision all 3 times, so I definitely am not a fan as I can't get behind fighters who need help to win their fights. He won't need any help to beat Butler though.

Fair enough I'm the same opinions vary a lot with that Kameda rematch. Some Americans in the broadcast had Kameda wide which was mental to me. I had him 8-4 I think.

The Solis fight was a robbery though. You never know if this is on a BT show he may get a taste of his own medicine.

I don't think he'd have multiple losses at all. He paced the fights well and puts in very strong finishes. And that includes Ceja, Hall and the two with Kameda in America - a superb run only a very good fighter would be capable of.

I had McDonnell winning the late rounds to edge the fight with Solis; my concern is he didn't win them as decisively as usual and barely scraped by IMO. Think he had a bad night, with the cuts, and was it a nosebleed as well ? and perhaps didn't take the opponent - a former super flyweight champion who dropped bantam king Yamanaka several times in defeat - seriously enough.

I'm very impatient for the Solis rematch but would be happy to see him beat the Hatton fighter and settle the WBA split title mess.

Fighters have short careers and they're the ones getting punched in the face. You go where the best money is, nobody owes anybody a living least of all a promoter.

I'm not sure how would beat ZZ now. I want to see it great fight. I don't mind the butler fight but I would rather see ZZ , Solis 2, Yamanaka or Tete.

That was as superficial of an 'outboxing' as I've seen. Jabs missing constantly and thrown from too far out, pitter-patter combos, taking more damage, getting hit with pretty much all the notable shots of the fight, and in general looking very uncomfortable. Seems like, as long as you're moving around and pushing out jabs and the occasional combo, some people will take that as you outboxing your opponent.

That said, McD is still a pretty good fighter, and I think he'll have enough to beat Butler.
