Get iced hopefully. Matchroom monopoly
Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
I thought he looked handy in the olympics. Hopefully another English guy that can feature at the top of the rankings
Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
Powerful guy and a fun fighter: the two fights I saw he seemed much more suited to the pros than the ams so I will follow his career with interest. Didn't see the fight where he got outboxed and lost, though. It all depends on how he's matched. What weight class will he turn over at? I know he was LHW at the Olympics, but they have to be on weight quite consistently in the ams, don't they? Scary division to get into. With the top SMW's looking a bit fragile these days you wonder whether it might be worth a look down there first if he can make the weight?

Really good fighter. Looks suited to the pros.
Looked fantastic in the Olympics. One of the few to over-perform.

Best of luck to the lad.
Can't believe so called boxing fans hoping he gets 'iced'.

Just read that his mum wouldn't let him turn pro until he completed his university degree.
How can you not like the lad
Managed by Anthony Joshua.

come on dude, he is a good fighter and I think he will do very well. He is gone for the best deal he can get, which anyone would do.mattienelsen12 wrote:Get iced hopefully. Matchroom monopoly
I agree the monopoly situation is not idea though. As I have said on previous threads the amateur boxing team and Matchroom are a bit too close for my liking.
I do think the tide is turning through, when you have too many hot prospects you cant keep them all happy.
Okolie was devestated not to be on the Joshua v Klit undercard for example... he was in the changing room ready to go and it got cancelled.
Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
I remember when W@rren broke up the Duff/Lawless monopoly back in the 80's then he mainly had things his own way after Hearn backed out. Now Boy Hearn is the Daddy & Warren No. 2. Someone is always on top & someone is always looking to be on top.knockout wrote:come on dude, he is a good fighter and I think he will do very well. W@rren has two excellent prospects in Yarde & Dubois & I'm sure there's others.
As long as there's lots of decent fights & the fighters get paid I don't care who's promoting.
Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
Yep, as long as we're getting good fights we can't complain. Rather have big domestic names getting big challenges than enduring the old Calzaghe/Hatton days of endless overmatched opponents.

Agreed, what a miserable forumTaansend wrote:Best of luck to the lad.

Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
They were bad days. Things were so bad that Calzaghe, one of Britain's greatest ever, was mistaken for years for a second rate champion. And it was easy to do so given how he performed to the level of his opposition.dirk2686 wrote:Yep, as long as we're getting good fights we can't complain. Best of all the ams turning over. Honestly think he can unify division . Style is well suited and he's a clever guy . AJ managing him also, boy is very clever as he's gonna be on every single massive card

What division?JamieM wrote:Best of all the ams turning over. Honestly think he can unify division . Style is well suited and he's a clever guy . AJ managing him also, boy is very clever as he's gonna be on every single massive card
Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
Looks very promising, and certainly doesn't appear to be one of those fencers whose style won't be as effective in the pros.
A miserable poster perhaps? It's just 1 post out of 16...Agreed, what a miserable forum

As a man who is a Sky ambassador, a frequent Sky boxing guest, a professional fighter, learning to speak Spanish, a full time dad (LOL), humbly taking time to talk to every fan, and now a boxing manager?
When does this man sleep? Is he some transhuman prototype who can do everything? Will he run for PM in the upcoming election? Will he bring everlasting peace to the earth whilst eradicating poverty? Is AAAAAYYYYY JJJJJAAAAYYYYY the second coming?
I think we should be told
Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
Wait, AJ is actually managing him?
I thought that was a humbleness related joke

Re: Joshua Buatsi joins Matchroom
It's Freddie Cunningham who will be managing him, not a bad life eh.
There has been a lot of hype around Buatsi, and I suspect there were a lot of promoters looking to sign him. The weight division will be interesting as he looked lean at 81kg, so its whether he can cut the 10lbs with day before weigh ins.
Plenty of areas to improve on - particularly his footwork both defensively and offensively, so that should make his first 5-10 fights interesting as he looks to have a pro friendly style.

It's good to see the British penchant for knocking down people trying to make the most of their lives hasn't changedboxingknockout wrote:AAAAAYYYYYYY JAAAYYYYYYYYY is managing him?JamieM wrote:Best of all the ams turning over.
