You may have missed this, he fights on Monday in Italy, against an Argie.

I was wondering why RTE wasn't available on SKY? I mean we get the Audi channel, BEN TV, Psychic Chat and countless other channels of shite so why not RTE?

we get RTE here on irish sky but no ITV
i had to get the frequency for itv and go to Other Channels every time i want to watch it.

RTE is good for some things. For example....

1/ Irish Boxing

2/ Some Premiership and Champions League matches Sky don't pick up.

3/ Some of their shows are sometimes watchable like Podge and Rodge, Batchelors Walk, The Clinic, etc They also sometimes get the big American shows before Sky do.

We get UTV on terrestial but no on digital I think.

I get Grampian because im scottish but you can get every region from ITV

We have TV3(which is mostly owned by ITV) instead . Since ITV went FTA we can get that on SKY now . But as someone said we have to put in the frequency and add the channel and then go to other channels anytime we want to watch it(this is the same for all ITV channels , UTV , ITV4 etc)

Some people can pick up ITV/UTV with their regular aerial(depending where yo live) and it has been on Chorus(crappy satelite thingy) and NTL(cable) since both of those started .

Dunne looked like he won at least 7 of the 8 rounds. Comprehensively outboxed the Argentine, who was a tough nut, but not as skilled as Dunne.

Worryingly though, Dunne got cut early in the fight. He seems susceptible to cuts.

Typical Dunne performance: good body punches, good solid technique, but he's not a massive one puncher. The cut seemed to bother him and he threw less combinations than normal, keeping it at distance to be safe.

Few things I picked up from the fight.

Dunne drops his hands way too much. He seems to be over confident in his head movement and frequently has his hands at his hips while letting his opponent take shots at him. His head movement is good but not that good, the Argie caught him with a few in the early rounds while he did this and a world class fighter or even a true european level fighter would catch Dunne harder and more often if he tries that in a fight with them and he would be in more trouble than he was in the Voronin fight.

The commentators on RTE really get on my tits as well, if I was a casual viewer I'd switch it off. They compliment shots that don't land and don't have a clue what they are talking about, they just read off the facts sheet the studio hands to them.

Summary of commentating.

Jimmy: They say the Mexicans are tough but there are a few Argentines who are tough as well. This fella is DANGEROUS!

Colour guy: Dunne needs to stay on the outside and not get in involved in a brawl, this guy is DAAAAAAAAANGEROUS!

Jimmy: There are a lot of DANGEROUS Argentinans!

Colour guy: Dunne needs to box him and not slug cause his guy is DAAAANGEROUS!

Jimmy: Yep, he's DANGEROUS!

Colour guy: DAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANGEROUS!

Never seen Dunne as a puncher - always thought it was the level of opponent that inflated his KO record.

I still think he is an excellent prospect, but he has always reminded me of Damean Kelly in terms of style and punch power.

I Totally agree about the commentators Over hyping the shit opponent.
However i did think it was a good performance from Dunne.
Questions will be raised about his defence and to beat Hunter he's gonna need to sort that out or it will be a short night.

Yeah, Dunne's not a big puncher by any stretch. His KO's have more been about cumulative effect. His main strength is his body punching.

His defence was sloppy but I think he knew the Argie couldn't hurt him. I imagine we'd see a very different Dunne against Hunter. But yeah, there are real worries about his defence: Mick Dowling admitted as much on RTE last night.

On the commentators, Jimmy Magee is one of the last of the RTE brigade of guys who commentate on sports they know little or nothing about (in his case, boxing and football). I really wish there was a mute button just for him, because I was interested in hearing what his co-commentator Dave "Boy McAuley (who held the IBF Flyweight title from 89 to 92) had to say. But he seem totally cowed by Magee's inane witterings.

The argie had only been stopped once in his career and that was against a world champ so i dont think we should read to much into dunnes power from this fight. Also dunne seemed to have trouble finding the argies jaw and concentrated on the body and i would imagine the argie has sore ribs this morning as some of dunnes shots were peaches.
