Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
He won't have a mandatory due for at least 9 months, (because he himself was the mandatory), so if you were promoting him, his career guide.. Who would you have him fight next..
Fighters in the IBF top 15 include..
* Carlos Ocampo
* Luis Collazo
* Konstantin Ponomarev
* Bradley Skeete
* Jose Benavidez
* Sadam Ali
* Rashidi Ellis
* Ceferno Rodriguez
* Qudratillo Abduqaxorov
* Zhankhozh Turarov
* Dusty Harrison
* Chris Van Heerden < (Already beat him)
TBH, I never like the IBF rankings, they have some poor choices.
With Thurman being out, the only other 147 champion is Pacman, he is busy, so he can't engage in a unification fight.

Floyd Mayweather... Manny Pacquiao... Amir Khan... Tim Bradley... Marcos Maidana... I would like to see him smoke the FIVE (5) FAKES.

Its probably going to be a tune up so I'm ok with Collazo, Eggington, Skeete, EllisKalan wrote:Floyd Mayweather... Manny Pacquiao... Amir Khan... Tim Bradley... Marcos Maidana... I would like to see him smoke the FIVE (5) FAKES.
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Lamont Peterson.
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
That's a pretty sorry ass list of choices. I guess Sadam Ali or Jose Benavidez might not be a complete waste of time, but the others would be.
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Ponomarev is one of the best choices on the list, at least to me. Collazo would be acceptable, along with Benavidez. Skeete wouldn't be bad if he wanted to increase a fan base in the UK and maybe fight over there again.gilgamesh wrote:That's a pretty sorry ass list of choices. Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Yeah. I haven't seen Ponomarev, but he's a good choice too. I've already seen Collazo get beaten up by the bigger names enough, I'd rather see Collazo get a win over at least one more guy on his level first, like a fight with Robert Guerrero or an Andre Berto rematch.armageto wrote:Ponomarev is one of the best choices on the list, at least to me. I saw Collazo might face Alexander. That's a good cross roads fight for both.gilgamesh wrote:Yeah. I haven't seen Ponomarev, but he's a good choice too. Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Yeah that's exactly the kinda opponent I envision him facing for now. A couple of wins over those kinda guys and I wouldn't mind seeing him get another crack at a Danny Garcia, Errol Spence, Shawn Porter or whoever...to get his name back in the mix, but for the time being I think we've seen enough of him against the top level guys to know he's not gonna fare well against them.armageto wrote:I saw Collazo might face Alexander. Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Well 1 thing Spence and his family are NOT is stupid!!! You heard him say it himself after he won the belt and beat brook, he said he was rusty and it was a long 9 month layoff. We also know this dude Spence is going after his goals and wants nothing more than to unify the ww division by fighting Thurman. I think we see him fight collazo in a stay busy fight in a couple months them wants to fight thurman to unify. The problem as we all know is that thurman is coming off an injury and we all know there is no wayyyy in hell his first fight back will be against Spence. Thurman will also take an easy fight which seriously means we as fans will not see Spence vs Thurman until probably this time next year if not by the end of 2018 :((( I really hope im wrong! ill tell you wjat i would love, and that would be thurman vs brook!!! botj sre coming off bad injuries and im sure thurman believes he will have it easy with Brook. i dont see that being the case at all!!! I think that would be an awesome fight to see right before we see Spence Thurman to unify this ww division up!!! LETSSSSS GOOOOOOO BOYYYYSSS!!!!

Floyd and Maidana are retired. Pac and Bradley are semi retired, and Arum wouldn't allow it anyway. Khan is also semi retired, and he needs an easy win not another one where he gets KO's again. Stupid list.Kalan wrote:Floyd Mayweather... Manny Pacquiao... Amir Khan... Tim Bradley... Marcos Maidana... I would like to see him smoke the FIVE (5) FAKES.

Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
The IBF's welterweight rankings are like the absolute worst of the worst. They almost look more like a bottom 15 rankings. Basically doesn't contain any of boxrec's top 15 fighters except for Jose Benavidez, who wouldn't be in the top 15 at all if he didn't get a robbery over Herrera.

My thoughts exactly.Tarkus wrote:Lamont Peterson.

Peterson will be a good fight. He is an excellent boxer, with good size. I've read he drains from 170 or so as well. If he fought smart, he could really test Spence. Peterson isn't well known for fighting smart all the time though.
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Very solid opponent.. better than any others on the list.Badhusker wrote:NateJR wrote:My thoughts exactly.Tarkus wrote:Lamont Peterson.

Also Peterson is a solid stick and move fighter. This could be a great preparation for upcoming Thurman clash.Badhusker wrote:NateJR wrote:My thoughts exactly.Tarkus wrote:Lamont Peterson.

Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
The TOP fight to make in boxing after GGG-Canelo is Thurman-Spence Jr. Make no mistake about that. That is a fight that will absolutely LAUNCH the winning fighter to the top of the sport. I am NOT a Thurman fan but I have to admit that he needs to be considered a top P4P boxer now after his recent wins. He's the top dog at WW, Boxing's most competitive division, so how can he not be in the top 5?
Thurman knocks out Spence Jr in my opinion if they fight early next year. This is a situation where i feel that the longer that Thurman waits to fight Spence, the harder the fight is going to be. I was not overly impressed with Spence's performance against Brook. Had Brook not broken another freaking eye, that fight was in serious doubt. Thurman would have demolished Brook. No doubt in my mind.

Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
No way in hell Thurman stops Errol or brook. He certainly could beat them but he doesn't hit anywhere near as hard as either one of them. If he fights Errol he will literally be running from him in the ring.
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Jessie Vargas
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
thurman , that is the one i will ppv , then crawford
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
Brook did not break his own orbital bone. It was broken from Spence hitting him. Brook lost the fight and was slowing down to stamina issues as much as his eye. Brook is a tough fighter but many tough fighters fall short when put under pressure they are not accustomed to. Spence kept coming and made Brook fight at a pace he was not comfortable with.caldo2025 wrote: Had Brook not broken another freaking eye, that fight was in serious doubt. Porter or Garcia.
Re: Errol Spence: Pick an opponent for him
You could say that the GGG fight with Brook was in serious doubt too, but it would be equally wrong. I'm not so sure Thurman would have demolished Brook. They both beat Porter in close fights. I think a lot of Thurman, but if he really wanted to fight Spence, he could have for a belt two years ago, but instead he opted for Collazo, who was fresh off a serious ass whipping by mighty Khan. Thurman said didn't deserve to fight him, but Collazo did?caldo2025 wrote:The TOP fight to make in boxing after GGG-Canelo is Thurman-Spence Jr. Make no mistake about that.
