If Kovalev gets robbed again, I won't follow boxing anymore
Re: If Kovalev gets robbed again, I won't follow boxing anymore
This reminds me of when one poster would bet another on a fight. And loser leaves the forum.

For one he felt Kovalev's punches and became more comfortable that he could absorb those punches. Then he started to work the body and fight inside. Nobody has done this against Kov successfully. This is why he got "tired". From the inside fighting.victor-romeo wrote:I was wondering can you give examples of the adjustments Ward made?diddy wrote:Chances are this fight will go more like the 2H of the last fight when Ward made adjustments. In which case Ward winning won't be a robbery.
I thought Kovalev should've won the first fight by 1 point. My intuition tells me he won't build quite the lead he did in the first fight since Ward has now seen him and felt his power. Kovalev is a great fighter but it's pretty clear Ward fights more with his mind and is more capable of making adjustments. When award adjusted, Kovalev didn't.

Re: If Kovalev gets robbed again, I won't follow boxing anymore
The first fight wasn't a robbery - it was a very close fight where Ward was lucky to get the nod. I watched it live at home, all the time hoping that Kovalev would knock Ward out, but I had Ward winning 114-113, the same as all three judges. I was surprised that so many were calling it a robbery, so I rewatched it and had Kovalev winning by a point. For me the real injustice was the scoring of the 10th round, which Kovalev clearly won, so to me 114-113 Kovalev is the best way to score the fight and I can't call a fight that close a robbery. Lewis-Holyfield 1 and Whitaker-Chavez were robberies, Ward-Kovalev just isn't in that category.Freedom2013 wrote:A sport needs honest officiating to be legitimate.
If Kovalev loses fairly, I'll still follow the sport.
But if he loses because the ref permits Ward to use illegal tactics like deliberate head butts, or because the judges are corrupt, then I'm no longer going to follow the sport of boxing.

Do you remember what rounds of the first 6 that you gave to Ward?jezzamundo wrote:The first fight wasn't a robbery - it was a very close fight where Ward was lucky to get the nod. So, a champion drops a challenger and wins at least 6 rounds (some say 8-9), but he is not getting a nod, and that is not a robbery?jezzamundo wrote:The first fight wasn't a robbery - it was a very close fight where Ward was lucky to get the nod. Well, for every person like you giving Ward the nod, there's 3 other ones giving the victory to Kovalev.jezzamundo wrote: The first fight wasn't a robbery - it was a very close fight where Ward was lucky to get the nod. 3 to 1.
Who's more likely to be wrong?

I don't remember his name but one poster incessantly begged me to bet on Khan vs Judah when I said zab had no chance. Don't know if he came back or not, but he did not pay me my $200. LolMachoTime wrote:This reminds me of when one poster would bet another on a fight. And loser leaves the forum.

Kova learned that he can't rely on judges, so this time it will be over in the first 6 rounds.world ranked wrote:I bet you and Kovalev said that the first fightJip wrote:Kova will ko him this time

He said he was going to knock him out in the first fight. Nobody saves anything for a decision when you could stop someone gtfoh with that. He couldn't stop Ward in the first he failed as a KO prediction. He lied the first he can quite possible lie again.boxing_rocks wrote:Kova learned that he can't rely on judges, so this time it will be over in the first 6 rounds.world ranked wrote:I bet you and Kovalev said that the first fightJip wrote:Kova will ko him this time

Keep trying to convince yourself of that, box of rocks. You are far too emotionally invested in this fight. Chanting the same tired sh!t over and over again is not going to affect the outcome of the fight.boxing_rocks wrote:In 11 days Wardidiots will shut up and the dirty "master technician" will likely retire.Tanzio wrote:Keep repeating that with your eyes closed and a long ooooohhhmmmm inbetween for the next 11 days or so.boxing_rocks wrote:

Krusher will either make good on his prodigious claims or he will not. It must be difficult having no control over your future emotions.
I am just hoping it is as good of a fight as last time (or better), no matter who is victorious.

Kind of hoping he gets robbed now.

If Kovalev gets cheated again boxing will lose thousands of more fans. Usually in the rematch they give the decision to the ripped off fighter - Holy vs Lewis 2 is the best example.

I am more confident in Kovalev stopping Ward than in Golovkin stopping Canelo. I have concerns about Golovkin's injuries/wear and tear.Tanzio wrote:Keep trying to convince yourself of that, box of rocks. You are far too emotionally invested in this fight. Nah, the boxing people will give it to Kovalev if its close, setting up the 3rd and final match.
It would be ironic if Kovalev, who was shall we say misjudged by judges giving Ward the benefit of the doubt in every round, and clearly robbed in the 10th round to avoid a draw losses this time on fair cards, but wins on the official cards.
