If Kovalev gets robbed again, I won't follow boxing anymore

Does corrupt officiating decrease your enthusiasm for boxing?

Poll ended at 29 Feb 2020, 13:02

Yes. A sport needs to have fair officiating.

No, as long as the boxers I'm a fan of are the ones favored by the officials.

If Kovalev loses fairly, I'll still follow the sport.

But if he loses because the ref permits Ward to use illegal tactics like deliberate head butts, or because the judges are corrupt, then I'm no longer going to follow the sport of boxing.
Good riddance! :salut:

If you think this fight was a robbery boxing is better off without you.

It was a close fight no doubt and subjective to what the viewer liked. Whether you liked the come forward style of Kovalev or the skills of Ward.

I personally favoured the latter and thought Kovalev ran out of ideas with Ward after round 5 when he realised he wouldn't knock him out.

Either way, it was a close fight for both and in no way could be labelled a robbery.

Unbiased people who are colorblind maintain it was a close fight that could have gone either way.

The majority of people are often, if not usually wrong, and that goes for everything.

You are very biased, Tony1244. Being familiar with what you post on here, I have no doubt you were rooting against the Russian-born Kovalev.

Certainly nowhere near one of the worst decisions ever, it wasn't the worst on the card. That being said, I do feel you have to go out of your way to find Ward the winner. The fact that I don't think I've seen even a single card for ward wider than 114-113 is telling. He didn't win that fight. It doesn't have to be a blow out to be bad. 6 rounds is all it takes with the KD.

No judges giving him 10 is questionable as hell....it's like they weren't willing to have a score that would require KDs for Andre to win.

I scored it 114-113 for kovalev. It would have been tough for me to find another round to give to ward, but it amazes me that someone could still be that upset over this decision.

I'm not trying to sound like a dick or math Nazi, but it would make you 9 years older.

Anyhow to the point at hand, I can see the first fight going anywhere from 114-113 Ward to 115-112 Kovalev. Even on Bernstein's card here, he has it 114-113 Kovalev. It was a close fight. If people want to say bad decision, I'd go with that. Robbery.....no.....

Kovalev-Ward 1 was a Unpopular Decision. Hopefully the rematch will clear that up.

 True. I was just reading his 11 and typed it in. My bad. Yes to the point, it was a very close fight. I had it 114-113 Ward one time and 114-114 another time. But the OP has it a robbery! That's biased malarky. Thats the point. Not how much older I am than Saad. Not my careless moronic math.

I was rooting for Kovalev and had it 114-113 Ward. I can see if somebody thought Kovalev took it by 1 to 3 points and thought the decision to be bad. However, I can't see anybody calling it a robbery. Like Saad...stated, the Ward fight wasn't even the worst decision on the card. The Hooker/Perez fight being a draw, now THAT was a robbery. I think I had Perez winning 98-92.

You didn't fully understand what Saad said. One had to have give Ward ALL remotely close rounds to have him win. That is a definition of a bias and thus robbery. A close fight can still be a robbery. And it was in fact the worst robbery on the card if you take a profile of this fight in consideration and that it was a holder of 3 titles who was robbed.

And even if I were American, I would not be overly nationalistic and be objective enough to score a fight fairly.

We just disagree. I had Ward winning close. I thought the fight was close. The fight was in no way a robbery. If you want to say a bad or debatable decision, that's fine. Robbery, no way, not to me at least.

Well, being that old, you won't miss a lot of boxing if Kovalev is "robbed" again and you stop watching. Bright side to everything if you look hard enough...

See that why UK fans take so many #L because they not objective everything isn't about US vs UK. Sometimes its just down to who the better fighter is.

I liked and respected both of them. Still do. I liked Duran's bad guy persona. SR Leonard was a brilliant boxer but I didn't buy his image.
