I liked Grant Cunningham but he seems to have disappeared. Was unlucky to have twice been stopped on cuts in close fights with Lewis Taylor and Damon Jones.. I see Rob hunt is carrying on I thought he wud retire.

Unfortunetly the unlicensed boxing is bigger than professional boxing locally now.

Didnt realise hunt was still fighting. Think stoke/staffs golden years are gone now

Perhaps Rico Verhoeven, a 270 pound heavyweight kickboxer, several times champion of the world, but most of you probably have never heard of him.
He was the sparringspartner of Tyson Fury when Fury beat Klitschko.
So you're virtually neighbors? I wondered why you were so close.
He used to live close near here yes, he grew up here, but he's the only top contender active in boxing.
He's 10 times champion of the world in 6 differend weightclasses, he's not a 270 pounder, like Rico Verhoeven, but he's not the kind of guy that surrenders. When he broke his leg in a fight his mum was there, he comforted his crying mum instead of the other way around.
That's the type of guy that grows up here, here and just here, we're not close in any other way, but yes I support him, that's the way I grew up.
You're gay for Spong :yay: Even the mention of his name and your wee hoops going like a rabbits nose :OhYes:

It makes a lot of sense: Asdfuk has always said he's only interested in "big man" and his constant denouncement of Daffy Duck does remind me a little of when you're about 11 and you tease the girl you fancy in the playground rather than ask her out because you're too emotionally immature to understand the feelings.

Now I think about it, asdfjkl could well be 11 years old.

I'm interested in the heavyweight league, did you mean that?
Daffy Duck is taller then Tyrone Spong btw, so your comment doesn't make sense, Tyrone is actually barely any taller at all as the avarage Dutch person? As far as I know Tyrone Spong is the shortest heavyweight champion I've ever heard of.

Once again, even Daffy Duck is taller.

Got Paul Kean coming through as well seems to have the right attitude. Davie Drummond would of been a nightmare for anyone at light heavy shame he couldn't sell tickets. Aaron Mckelvie was tidy boxer as well and we had Iron Mike Towell who was always Class to watch a proper Dundee lad.. Ronnie is definitely top of the tree here just a shame Dundee couldn't get right behind him to make his career path a bit easier.. Jamie Wilson has a very good chance of picking up that British title and becoming the first Dundonian to be British Champ.. I'm sure it's going to happen soon enough Dundee is booming with boxing

Pompey doesn't really have any standout names. Joel mcintyre won the english title last xmas against miles shinkwin. Then you have mikey mckinson who is wbc youth welterweight champion. But other than that it isn't a huge scene round here.

Do fairly welk at amatuer level, recently had ebonie jones win world youth honours before joining the army and taking the english title in her first competition as a senior

Corrupt officiating there. Daffy Duck could've been disqualified numerous times in that matchup ;-)

Ah yes, decent picks. I'm from Oldham myself.
Middleton here bud
I guess we could class Scott Quigg, Anthony Crolla and Terry Flanagan as local

Deffo Sam by us. Shows locally are poor at the moment tho not enough 50 50 fights being made.
Definitely mate small hall shows have been awful for the past year or 2 now. Never any well matched fights. I'm thinking about going to Dudley show Friday cuz not been a small hall show for ages and a 10-0 v 7-3 6rounder is about as good as it gets!

I could have. Not so much now. Quigg being Bury which I drive through on the way to work, and Flanagan being Ancoats where I used to live. Think Crolla resides in Moston which I've never knowingly been to.

Yeah saw mate but there is some polish 10-0 heavyweight (as the home fighter) v Chris Healey bit of a random one but like I saw my standards have got that low that any fight where both have at least a winning record will do cuz otherwise not doing any shows locally.

Think there's a Tommy Owens show at villa Friday too but they never get listed let alone the opponent s
