I think you're right. I just can't watch Bellew talk through the build up about how he took Haye's POWAH and still did him fair and square.

It's the only fight for both men. Bellew won't fight a proper heavyweight and Haye needs to avenge an embarrassing loss. It is also the biggest earner for both men.

Does anyone know much about Ismael Salas? I can't say I do, googling him he trained some decent fighters like Gamboa, Danny Green and Rigondeaux and seems to be highly rated. Anyone know more about him?

Doesn't matter who trains Haye at this stage in his career. They're not going to change him as a fighter. He's damaged goods and is probably just trying to get himself in to a decent enough condition for one last pay day.

Don't really care too much about Haye's career now (admittedly will probably be drawn into the Bellew rematch hype), but a word on his work over the past year with Shane McGuigan - Shane is young enough and has already had plenty of success with Frampton and Groves that his work with Haye shouldn't affect his reputation too much. Saying that, seeing him and Haye training on yachts in Miami while dismissing the threat of Bellew shows a level of arrogance and complacency that no trainer should have. Either that or he was simply a 'yes man' and happy to take his cut of Haye's massive purse. Neither is a good look in all honesty. At this stage in his career I can't see Haye employing someone who will genuinely challenge him.

Agree with the latter there. A big cut from Haye keeps them cash rich for a while. I don't think Shane's heart was in it like Frampton and Groves.

He's always had his own team coming in - who he's known for years and worked with - before, so he was always slightly detached. "The way him and Shane were preparing for fights was like the American style: you see a lot of Americans doing their own thing because the country is so big, then for the final few weeks they'd do camp with a particular trainer. "It usually happens in the twilight of someone's career and I can see it working for David because he knows the game and knows what he's got to do. Shane is a good trainer, he's an intelligent chap and he knew what to do to get the best out of him."

That sounds like McGuigan had little control over Haye and Haye done his own thing.

I'm not a doctor but I'd think roadwork is harder on your Achilles. Though most of the athletes you see with Achilles injuries tend to be of the fluke variety. Might not make a difference either way. It's just a tendon, you're not going to build it up. Tendons suffer from PED use for that very reason. The muscles heal and grow faster and just creates more of a burden.
