Do you prefer HW division ?
Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
i started out favouring the heavies, but
over time i started to appreciate the
more technical and nuanced game in
the lower divisions. somewhere around
welter and middle weight i find the most
interesting. to be honest if people get
lighter, yes they are super fast but in a
way i cannot get out of my head how
small this guys really are.
thing with the heavies is that you rarely
see great fights with well trained athletes.
if one comes up like AJ-wlad it is amazing
and the best you could ask for, but the
number of out of shape guys within that
division is just weird to watch. take tyson
fury or chris arreola. can you imagine a
welter weight in such shape fighting for
the title?
until recently you could be happy if two
heavies entered the ring that looked like
professional athletes.

Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
Recent times welter has been the biggie. My favourite is super middle.
Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
I've always been a fan of the division that offers the most talent. Welterweight & Middleweight are my two favorites.
Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
Yes, heavyweight is the division that interests me the most - always has.
I do sometimes watch fights from the lower weight classes but not very often.

You nailed it.Tony1244 wrote:People say the problem in the HW division is lack of talent.
No, its lack of fights.
Failed PEDs, ducking and injuries are the 3 problems.
If Wilder, Wlad, Joshua, Browne, Pulev, Miller, Ortiz, Parker, Povetkin all fought each other 3 to 4 times a year, the interest, not necessarily the talent would go thru the roof.
Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
The lighter weights have consistently delivered compared to Heavyweights it's a no brainer.
The Heavyweights come in spurts over the years, you can go long periods years and years even before you get a core group of Heavyweights that compete at a somewhat high level.
147 has been great for a very long time.

Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
If it weren't for the WW division the last 10 years then the sport would have been in trouble. It has carried the sport for years while the heavyweight division slipped into oblivion. But I do agree that the HW division is the most important division to the sports mainstream success and the HW title belt is one of the most prestigious championships in sports.
When HW's are selling tickets, the sport has never been in better shape.

Thank you. Usually I don't nail it but this time I agree it think I did.
Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
I don't disagree but it's like saying "If everyone treated each other with respect, worked as hard as they could manage comfortably, kept what money they needed and gave the surplus to those less fortunate, the world would be a wonderful place" It might be true but it's not going to happen and neither is your scenario.
Personally I'd be satisfied for a while if Wilder were to fight just one of those on your list although you just know if he did it would be Browne or at best Pulev (if he can't land the Jo$hua Jackpot pay-out) don't you.
Anybody else got some fries I can piss on![[icon_e_biggrin.gif] :D](./images/smilies/icon_e_biggrin.gif)

Re: Do you prefer HW division ?
The HW division is what first got me into boxing. Since I have become a hardcore fan, my favorite division changes depending on the depth and health of a division at any given moment in time. The HW division hasn't been a favorite of mine since the 90s
