Would be nice. But i doubt it.

July 8 is a open date. BJS can still fight. Still enough time to find a opponent.

The Brit has already had to endure fight cancellations with Gennady Golovkin and Avtandil Khurtsidze, so it wouldn’t seem fair for the WBO to force Saunders to sit idly by the side-lines whilst waiting for them to decide who his mandatory challenger is.
I suspect that the WBO will allow Billy Joe Saunders to perform an interim voluntary defence of his title in the hope that they can eventually obtain a huge sanctioning fee from providing the winner of the Canelo-GGG fight an opportunity to own their belt.
In terms of David Lemieux, he’s currently taking time off to recover from minor injuries to rest both his left hand and left shoulder, with his manager hoping that they can eventually match him up against the winner of GGG-Canelo or Cotto-Kamegai.
So whilst a Saunders-Lemieux fight is entirely possible and may even be mandated by the WBO, I'm not so sure it’ll happen in the next few months.

I agree. Golden Boy has been showcasing Lemieux off in what appear to me to be eliminator bouts for the winner of Canelo/GGG. Lemieux passed both tests with flying colors and fought his way back to the top of the division and is the most deserving of a title shot at MW IMO. But he did get dinged up in that last fight so that pretty much ends the thought of he and BJS getting it on. But I would really like to see that fight. Way more than if BJS fought GGG or Canelo because i think they'd beat BJS pretty easily. But Lemieux and BJS are similar and that could be a great fight.Enlightened-One wrote:The Brit has already had to endure fight cancellations with Gennady Golovkin and Avtandil Khurtsidze, so it wouldn’t seem fair for the WBO to force Saunders to sit idly by the side-lines whilst waiting for them to decide who his mandatory challenger is.

Monroe Jr also has hopes getting BJS fight. Wouldn't be so bad either except he is feather-fisted.
