Ward will win a gain un dec this time
Re: Kovalev vs Ward 2: Predictions from an Expert Panel
Saw the HBO 24/7 thing they did for the rematch.
At the start of the show they showed Kovalev in his dressing room, he was pissed off but more importantly hardly had a scratch on him.

Interesting to see how many have Kovalev. I'm one of the many that feel that Ward figured Kovalev out late in that fight and it had nothing to do with Kovalev's conditioning. Ward will have to fend off some shots early but I see this one going the way of the first one but without a knockdown figured in. I see Ward winning a unanimous decision in this one.gilgamesh wrote:Have a look at our article about the upcoming rematch between Sergey Kovalev and Andre Ward

Re: Kovalev vs Ward 2: Predictions from an Expert Panel
Kovalev should win easily again because he's already proven he's a better boxer and puncher... However there is nothing in place to prevent another robbery -- so I see a repeat robbery... Also, if Ward wins getting a 3rd fight will be almost impossible for Kovalev -- and getting Chickenson and other top North American Light Heavyweights to fight him if he loses will be damned near impossible.

I'd like to see Kovalev win if for nothing else than to precipitate a Ward retirement.

Re: Kovalev vs Ward 2: Predictions from an Expert Panel
This is how I feel as well. However, I think that if Kovalev can stay in his range, and keep space in between him and Ward for the majority of the bout, he can secure a decision or possibly a KO. But Ward is very savvy at getting inside and muddling things up in his favor. I hope kov can keep that space though. He has shown that he is much better working at a farther distance than Ward is. I'd like to see him fight off the back foot a bit in this fight and keep that distance.caldo2025 wrote:Interesting to see how many have Kovalev. Re: Kovalev vs Ward 2: Predictions from an Expert Panel
In the last fight, Kovalev was overly concerned about Ward's head butts which distracted him from actual inside fighting. Hopefully, this time he will throw body punches himself. Even if he fights the same way as in the previous fight but comes in a slightly better physical condition, he should win comfortably. Ward has nothing against Kovalev's superior boxing skills on the outside and overwhelming power advantage.

The only thing that won't happen is Ward by KO.
Any other option is in play but Ward by DEC is the most logical.

Kovalev's win would be most probable if 4 randomly selected boxing experts were used as a ref and judges.diddy wrote:The only thing that won't happen is Ward by KO.

Like the ones Kathy Duva agreed to using in the first fight... or the vast majority of Kovalev's career?boxing_rocks wrote:Kovalev's win would be most probable if 4 randomly selected boxing experts were used as a ref and judges.diddy wrote:The only thing that won't happen is Ward by KO.

What was used before the Ward fight doesn't matter, as there was only one competitive fight before that.Enlightened-One wrote:Like the ones Kathy Duva agreed to using in the first fight... or the vast majority of Kovalev's career?boxing_rocks wrote:Kovalev's win would be most probable if 4 randomly selected boxing experts were used as a ref and judges.diddy wrote:The only thing that won't happen is Ward by KO.

Your "logic" is like telling a swimmer who has never had a competition suit before that he doesn't need it on a higher level even though everybody else will use those suits.
Re: Kovalev vs Ward 2: Predictions from an Expert Panel
For Kovalev and his defenders, one observation. I can't recall another fight ever where there was so much whining, excuses, delusions, conspiracies, complete emotional breakdowns and childish contempt for a result. It reeks of insincerity when all you crybabies picked Kov by easy KO and were proven completely wrong, undeniably wrong, and come up with every single excuse possible as to why reality didn't fit into your plans. There is a large contingent of fake confident fans who,if there was any truth to that confidence at all, they'd be quite relaxed and laugh it off since they are fighting again in days and since it was so "easy" the first time & the guy that lol lost is so superior there should be very little to worry about. But much like your views on the first fight, that is not the truth. You all know there's a good chance the same result will happen. Hence the saltiness. The best thing to do would be rest easy, dry your tears, and hope Kovalev shows up for an entire fight this time instead of just half of one.

Lots think Ward's body work is what dropped Kov's rate... i expect him to work harder this time and get a clearer win than the first time.

Re: Kovalev vs Ward 2: Predictions from an Expert Panel
I'm quite anxious about this fight. To me its the boxer vs the anti boxer. The stronger fundamentals vs the bag of tricks.
It's not the fight it was 6 months ago. Ward was the favourite, was the invulnerable one, hadn't lost a fight since he was 12, hadn't lost a round and had barely lost a minute of a round as touted by HBO. Following the fight a campaign of psychological warfare was enacted. Kovalev the alcoholic, John David Jacksons allegiance, Russia vs America, Wards retirement, the list goes on.
I want to believe that the stronger boxing fundamentals prevail and I recognise them in the Russian. Thats what type of world I want to believe in. But of the ref, but of Kovalev's adjustments, but of Ward motivation having been promised a sponge bath by Virgil Hunter should he win. I had Kovalev winning a close decision in the points game on this site. I was correct. I call that again.
P.S: I think the promoters have all done us a favour putting Ridondeaux on the card. At least those with kids will be able to put them to bed and we can do some chores around the house before the main event.

What one motherf*cker (SFW) said and another motherf*cker (Badhusker) supported is a bunch of garbage. Overwhelming majority of specialists and fans think that Kovalev won, and a few motherf*ckers trying to play psychologists doesn't change anything.Badhusker wrote:What SFW said is right on. The only person you’re arguing with is a “strawman”, since nobody (especially not me) has suggested anything that bears any resemblance to your words.boxing_rocks wrote:What was used before the Ward fight doesn't matter, as there was only one competitive fight before that.Enlightened-One wrote:Like the ones Kathy Duva agreed to using in the first fight... or the vast majority of Kovalev's career?boxing_rocks wrote: Kovalev's win would be most probable if 4 randomly selected boxing experts were used as a ref and judges.

All I’m suggesting is that Kathy Duva has been is the sport for 39 years (as per her persistent boasts)… and she’s only now decided to feign outrage about a practice that her family has incessantly employed for all of her fighters during the entire existence of Main Events.
Then again, it’s not unusual for merely casual fight fans to make bold derogatory proclamations on the basis of a miniscule sample of controversial fights, whilst flatly-refusing to consider all of the real-world facts.

It only took me about five minutes to ascertain the opinion of "a few motherf*cker" "specialists" that believed that Andre Ward deserved his victory over Sergey Kovalev:boxing_rocks wrote:Overwhelming majority of specialists and fans think that Kovalev won, and a few motherf*ckers trying to play psychologists doesn't change anything.

Whilst I cannot deny that many believed that Kovalev was deprived of a victory, there is also an undeniably large contingent of boxing “specialists” (your words) that claim that Ward deserved his win, which is only typical for an evenly-contested bout where there were a few swing rounds.
Simply put: you’re embellishing the situation to preposterous levels!

Jesus man, you hit him with 2 four syllable words, he's probably reeling. We're gonna have to get him one of those helmets again.
