Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
Fight been made on undercard of the Eubank Jnr fight. I'm gonna change my mind and say I fancy Ward to stop him. Think it will be very similar to the Townend stoppage for Ward. Great fight but just think Cacace been out the ring to long .
Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
Commonwealth title also on the line
Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
Good fight. Glad it's gonna be on tv. Saw it on the schedule recently and was worried it wasn't gonna be televised.

Hearn did an interview claiming he made ward a big offer for the fight. team ward turned it down then the fight went to purse bids and Hearn claimed ward is now getting less than he offered as the away fighter. Seems strange situation.
Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
I think they knew that Cacacae's team had no way of actually staging such a big fight and was a tactic to try and get an easier defence.. In saying that I think it's worked out a lot better for Ward.. Has been delayed a bit, he is the most active. Although I believe Cacacae is a better boxer than Townend I don't think he carries the same raw power. I think Ward is a far better boxer and has better feet and speed that Anto and this will be the key in this fight.. If Cacacae tries to outbox Ward he will be stopped far too easy to hit.. Only chance he has is by going right after Ward and go for the KO.. I fancy Ward to win this by stoppage or wide pointsmaley1984 wrote:mickey1975 wrote:Camp Eddie letting another non ticket seller box away?

Cacace stops him. Interesting to see two Irishmen fight for the British title.

Is Ward not from Essex or somewhere down that way? I know he's from a traveller background.slapbangwhallop wrote:Cacace stops him. Interesting to see two Irishmen fight for the British title.

Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
Really looking forward to this fight, maybe more than any other fight on the bill, its been on cards for a while, Cacace stopped Clark almost 2 years ago in an eliminator for this British and in the meantime Ronnie got a shot at the title so Anthony must be glad to finally get his shot and the vacant Commonweralth is on the line so that's a big bonus
I was at the Cacace/Clark fight and was really impressed with Anto that night, he's a big tall southpaw and stronger than I thought he was going in, this is(at least) the 3rd fight in a row Ward's faced a southpaw after Clark and Hughes, its no wonder he's been struggling to shine lately, still he's scraping the wins which is the main thing but I think he's losing his British title on Saturday, I can seen Cacace breaking him down late on, Ward's a skilled fighter but does switch off and fade late on and I think Cacace will get stronger and stop Ward late on

Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
I think both will fade late on.. Cacacae used his height well against Clark and was very awkward that won't work against Ward.. I see this being quite similar to the Townend fight. I actually think Townend prob is the bigger puncher.. Ward will be cagey picking off early rounds and Cacacae will need to start chasing the fight will walk into shots late rounds stoppage for Ward speed will be the differencehandsofstone wrote:Really looking forward to this fight, maybe more than any other fight on the bill, its been on cards for a while, Cacace stopped Clark almost 2 years ago in an eliminator for this British and in the meantime Ronnie got a shot at the title so Anthony must be glad to finally get his shot and the vacant Commonweralth is on the line so that's a big bonus

Good fight
I reckon Ward will get dropped early but come back and win a decision. As mentioned Wards feet and boxing skills will be the difference in class but we know Ward is susceptible to getting caught.

Good fight, although it's been two years since Cacace fought anyone decent and it will be a big jump back up in levels for him.

Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
I'm sorry but I thought Cacace won the fight clearly 118-111, the first 6 rounds were close not much landed a lot of those rounds were won on single shots, I thought for the next few rounds Cacace put on a masterclass of making Ward miss and countering him, Ward finally started to have success late on but nowhere near enough to win on my card, I can see up to 116-112 Cacace but I thought that was a poor decision, I cant remember Ward landing much in the 12 rounds
The fights just finished minutes ago so I might be way off, i'll see if theres a backlash
Never gelled the way I thought it would either but Cacace won that fight easily IMO

Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
I had it 116-112 Cacace personally
Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
I didn't score, but it seemed really close to me. If I had to pick a winner it would be Cacace, but at the end it had the feeling of a 'could go either way' fight.
Re: Martin J Ward V Anthony Cacace ITV
I had it 116-113 Ward.. Cacacae far too slow and not throwing enough punches.. Cacacae had more eye catching punches but no where near enough..Ward landed more punches so won
