WBA To Issue Decision on Ustinov, Briggs, Oquendo

Post by Ruthless-RKO »

Vladimir Hryunov, manager of Alexander Ustinov of Russia - says the WBA is expected to issue an order this week - to resolve the confusion with the "regular" belt.

Because of the drug test failure, Hryunov has filed a request with the WBA to have Ustinov replace Briggs in the title fight with Oquendo.

Briggs also filed documents, appealing the WBA's decision to remove him from the bout.

"We are waiting for WBA's resolution on this matter, it should get issued during the week. Briggs' side has tried to appeal against the decision (to cancel the title fight). They made a request to the WBA to show mercy, so Briggs could take part in the fight (with Oquendo)," Hryunov said.

Chagaev retired, Browne fails drug tests, Brigg fails a drug test :shame:

Nobody wants to fight Oquendo :maybe:

My prediction: Ustinov suffers an injury in training camp forcing an indefinite delay and causing the WBA to go in search of an opponent for Oquendo.

They should just crown Fres Oquendo the Emeritus Mandatory Challenger for the Regular Heavyweight Championship, hand him a belt and be done with it...

Oquendo said he would accept being given the belt without a fight like what happened to Ken Norton. I agree. Then he could defend it or retire.

Could this be the least anticipated announcement in the history of HW boxing?

Seriously, nobody cares about any of these 3 guys. The fact that this has dragged on so long is just bizarre.

I was coming in to post that I have to give the WBA credit for coming up with something I care less about than Floyd/McGregor. Yes, that fight is more interesting than any combo of these 3.

Make Oquendo/Usyk. Usyk then goes on to beat AJ 100%.

Did the WBA ever issue anything? Briggs is saying on Instagram that he has a WBA title fight in October, however I can't find this reported elsewhere...

Briggs probably assumes he will be treat the same as Venus and Serena Williams, who where allowed to use all kind of doping whenever they wanted. For an alternative medical treatment or something like that.
And TBH, Briggs has a better case as those sisters...
