Mike Perez

Post by diddy »

I see he's back after 2 yrs off fighting at cruiser and looks in good shape. Fighting some Brit named Tommy McCarthy in his backyard which probably accounts for the seemingly short -400 odds on Perez. Probably -1000 if it's not in Britain. McCarthy any good?

McCarthy is a good fighter. If the odds are still that long he's worth a punt. I'd still back Perez but you're not sure on what he's gonna be like at Cruiser so....?

It is worth mentioning that he moved down to CW after fighting at above 240 pounds.

Magomed Abdusalamov was the first thing that came to mind.

He was too powerful for Abdusalamov...

My first thought is Mike Perez is too big to make an effective cruiserweight... He might have been scared by the Ortiz-Jennings fight.. He lost to Jennings and Ortiz crushed Jennings.. I hope it's not like Eddie Chamber's first Cruiserweight effort against Thabiso Mchunu.

He'd make a great opponent for Anthony Joshua

He just won by a 29-second KO over a 10-0 opponent who came at a very short notice. Maybe Schaefer should invite Mike into his tournament if there are open spots.

Yeah. His win today doesn't really tell us much as the guy went down from the first half decent shot and apparently broke his ankle. I'd love to see Perez in Schaefer's tournament.

He'd be a nice addition to the tournament

If I were him though I'd take another soft tune up fight real quick before entering something like that. Just to shake off the rust a little more. The fight today really didn't give him a chance to do that, it was over almost immediately from the first half ass decent shot.

Kalenga called him out:

Should be a fun fight with Kalenga likely stopped late.
