Brandon Rios
Brandon Rios
He still fights? He's on FS1 life and death with some cab driver. Please retire. Dude looks terrible.
Re: Brandon Rios
What round, what's happening?
Re: Brandon Rios
He's in a close fight with a no hoper. He's probably winning but looks brutal.

Re: Brandon Rios
Really good fight through five. Rios looks better than I thought he would. Looks pretty sharp offensively. This 'cab driver' is tough as nails. David Benavidez is great on commentary. Shockingly good for his age.

Re: Brandon Rios
Body shot ko in 7. Brandon looked pretty good. If matched properly he still has some years left.
Re: Brandon Rios
If matched against fighters who won't move he is OK.

Re: Brandon Rios
Yup, not sure why you thought he looked so bad. He's always been easy to hit.
Re: Brandon Rios
I loved how Bam Bam looked the other night. It was like the Rios from the Alvarado fights with high output and changing levels. I thought that he looked great and would definitely want to see him again. The key is to match him up with someone entertaining. No more fights against the top elite fighters...just go after some rivalries that could mean some bigger paydays.
Re: Brandon Rios
I must confess to a very soft spot for "Bam Bam". He never was the greatest but he's always been exciting and fearless. Pacman made him look ordinary and gave him a real pasting but he took his lumps and never stopped trying to make a fight of it.
I do admire fighters with real heart even if they are not the most skillful. Not that I'm decrying Rios's ability, the dude always had a very good inside game.

Re: Brandon Rios
IMO, match him up with Robert Guerrero, Luis Collazo, Leonard Bundu, Chris van Heerden, Yordenis Ugas, Frankie Gavin, Victor Ortiz, and/or Kermit Cintron. Any match-up like that would make more money and be more relevant than Rios really deserves to be at this juncture.
Re: Brandon Rios
Yeah I think you pretty well named all the right opponents for him to be fighting at this point. I'd throw Berto in as well.Lackeos wrote:IMO, match him up with Robert Guerrero, Luis Collazo, Leonard Bundu, Chris van Heerden, Yordenis Ugas, Frankie Gavin, Victor Ortiz, and/or Kermit Cintron. That's not how I remember the fight. He did a Clottey, claiming a moral victory by not getting knocked out. Decided on No Mas before first bell wentcandyslim wrote:Pacman made him look ordinary and gave him a real pasting but he took his lumps and never stopped trying to make a fight of it.

Re: Brandon Rios
Ooh that's harsh. Pacquiao was in blistering form or maybe Rios was just made for him, but he soaked up some brutal punishment from first to lasts.
Many would have been looking for a nice soft spot on the canvas but not Rios. It's easy for us to criticize from the safe side of the ropes.
