Mayweather v McGregor
Re: Mayweather v McGregor
Love Conor
Don't like Floyd he's Ben bad for boxing for some years
The fights a terrible mismatch
I'll enjoy the build up watching Conor verbally tee off at Floyd at will
Won't be excited about the fight. I lost hope with Floyd years back due to his complete lack of responsibility on entertainment. And he's a prick
Horrible situation for boxing and mma

You mean Floyd looses early rounds and gets dropped?MightyWarrior wrote:Oh right well I suppose that doesn't surprise me, just another miss match that will soon be forgotten. I guess a similar scenario was Floyd Patterson defending his world title against a boxer making his pro debut. Even though he won the Olympics, it was a pretty ridiculous mis match, but the general public likely thought it a super fight.
Reining Olympic Champion is lot dangerous then a guy who never boxed.
Re: Mayweather v McGregor
I'm guilty.
I'm buying it, the event will be a spectacle, the result is obvious. But who cares, it'll be £20. I waste more money than that on even more frivalous crap.
Let sing:

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
If Floyd loses we'll never hear the end of it from the MMA community. Granted it's been 12 years since he knocked someone out in a boxing ring (don't count Victor Ortiz as it was a cheap shoot). You would still think the superior skills of Mayweather would end McGregor around the mid rounds.
Mayweather might want to play with him and give him a 12 round beating though. I can't see McGregor landing a glove on Mayweather. It's 50/50 which method Mayweather will win by imo. As it depends on how Floyd wants to win.
No way in hell will I be buying this fight though.

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
Floyd by compassionate corner stoppage. People seem to be "blaming" Mayweather her as only doing it for the money.... that's pricely why McGregor is doing it also. He cannot make this money in MMA. Surely McGregor doesn't seriously believe he can win.... I think he team will realise this and pull him out at a respectable distance.
Yes, Mayweather cannot punch at 154, but Gatti had a good chin also and he was stopped.

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
Even a faded Floyd will be able to constantly land on Conor and really give him a proper beating while easily avoiding any crude, basic attacks that Conor launches so it wouldn't surprise me if Floyd forces him to quit.
In the event that Conor's frustration at being repeatedly and painfully punched in the face get the better of him and he either kicks or takes down Floyd I'm sure there are enormous financial penalties written into the contract so at some point in the fight quitting may appear to be a sensible option for Conor. What will he care about reputational damage - 5 years ago he was signing on but after this he'll walk away with tens of millions of dollars.

Well Batman beat Klitchko in Germany after handling the Joker at a press conference, so Spiderman needs to step up to the plate.

On Talk Sport this morning it said that they would both earn $100m each!Terminator666 wrote:The casuals will lap this up- they will think it's a meaningful fight

I don't get the 'makes a mockery' lines. Floyd is retired and it's a bit of an exhibition fight. It's far, far worse for mma.
I don't think this fight is a meaningful contest; my contribution to this debate is purely to temper the comments surrounding the supposed negative impact it has on the sport of boxing. It's genuinely far worse for mma; the poster boy of a whole sport is turning his back on said sport, because switching fighting codes so to speak earns him a lot more cash.

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
If Mayweather was coming back to fight Cotto, Canelo, Khan, Brook, Garcia, Thurman, Spence, Lara, Charlo, Pacquiao etc, we would all pick Mayweather to win, although some fights would be close. The bookies would all have Mayweather favourite.
So I don't see how anyone can seriously pick McGregor.
Conversely I'd pick all of those to starch McGregor.
It's kind of like when GGG was fighting Brook. We all basically said we'd pick GGG or at least give him a very good chance over people like Benn, Eubank, Watson, Hearns, Hagler, Jackson, McClellan etc. And then you had people seriously picking KELL BROOK to beat him

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
whos training McGregor? Also who is he going to spar? You've got to think any decent sparring partner worth his salt would be too much for him in a competitive spar. There's just so much wrong with this shambles it's melting my brain
Re: Mayweather v McGregor
Saw a video of Jason Quigley on Sky Sports News before saying that McGregor would definitely KO Mayweather. Embarrassing really. If he believes it then he's ridiculously stupid. If he doesn't and is just saying it because he's Irish then he's a bad arse kisser. It's not difficult to say something along the lines of "Conor is a massive underdog but Floyd is inactive, so who knows what will happen if McGregor catches him clean" - doesn't piss off the Irish/MMA casuals but also doesn't make a complete fool of yourself on national TV.
The sparring thing is interesting isn't it. Does he bring in top class sparring partners that make him realise he has no chance against Floyd? Or does he bring in boxers he can land on but will do nothing to prepare him for Mayweather?Stuarty30 wrote:whos training McGregor? Also who is he going to spar? McGregor already knows he's going to lose
Re: Mayweather v McGregor
Mayweather win is 1-9 at William Hill at the moment. It may not be huge winnings but it is as guaranteed as you can get. £10,000 gets you back £11111.11.
I did a few grand on the Hatton fight as that was also, for me, a guarantee at odds that were too tempting but I chickened out of ten grand on GGG versus Brook.

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
Pacquiao couldn't hurt Mayweather, Canelo couldn't hurt him or even hit him most of the night. Mosely caught him with a punch that would wipe out most guys roundabout that weight yet he stayed up and got schooled for the rest of the fight. Anyone who's buying in to this bollux has to look at the bigger picture.ElJefe wrote:Saw a video of Jason Quigley on Sky Sports News before saying that McGregor would definitely KO Mayweather. I'm not a fan of Floyd tbh. I like watching him sometimes but I was glad when he retired but he wins this when and how he wants. The easiest money he'll ever make. I don't blame either guy for taking the fight, how can you?, but I'm surprised at how many people are buying in to it even if they are casuals.

"As guaranteed as you can get" or "Free money" as someone says everyday on the Betfair forum.tobyh5 wrote:Mayweather win is 1-9 at William Hill at the moment. It may not be huge winnings but it is as guaranteed as you can get. £10,000 gets you back £11111.11.

I see 1-9 shots lose every day of the year.

Re: Mayweather v McGregor
I'm fairly sure McGregor knows he's hasn't got a chance, despite his self confidence.
But he can't be expected to ignore that massive payday and good luck to him.
After his beating McGregor may push for an MMA fight to make things even, which Floyd won't want to take..... until he gets an offer for $50 mil.....
Then everyone gets paid again for selling a pig in a poke twice

Floyds ego wouldn't allow him to fight Conor in MMA. I doubt he'd take that on for double the money he's getting paid for this 'boxing' match he's having with McGregor.boxingknockout wrote:I'm fairly sure McGregor knows he's hasn't got a chance, despite his self confidence.
