He's not hard as nails, but he can take a punch. As far as MMA is concerned, he has great speed, timing and uses distance really well. He has a good reach for his height (5' 9"). He has power with MMA gloves.

McGregor is not a novice when it comes to boxing, despite what you might read on here. He has trained in boxing since he was a kid and he has sparred with pros. However, none of the above means anything because he's fighting Floyd Mayweather. I don't know what Mayweather's hands are like at the moment, as they were very fragile many years ago, but he'll win conclusively.

Possibly. You wonder what McGregor might do when he realises he can't win after 3 rounds. He's committed to another UFC in 2017 after Floyd so he might just go Ortiz on him and let heads or kicks fly.

I did a few grand on the Hatton fight as that was also, for me, a guarantee at odds that were too tempting but I chickened out of ten grand on GGG versus Brook.
"As guaranteed as you can get" or "Free money" as someone says everyday on the Betfair forum.

I see 1-9 shots lose every day of the year.

Bet small, stay happy

:TU:
No chance I would try and buy £1k by risky 10k in a sport where injury, DQ, dodgy judging/politics are not uncommon.

Incredibly, and assuming it's because it's an Irish site...... McGregor is priced at 4-1 on Paddy Power!

I've got into UFC the past 18 months or so and I don't mind McGregor ( I hate this farce which I am not calling a fight)

But Mcgrgeor is used to 5 X 5 minute rounds. Floyd will toy with him and carry him.

He seems like the sort to head butt in this after he does nothing for 10 rounds.

Aren't there purse implications if you get DQ'd?

Not sure. Even if there is,what he clears will dwarf anything he has made before. ( if reports are to be believed.)

I just hope this bombs spectacularly.

It seriously can't be PPV over here .....surely

That won't happen. Dana white has already said that there's in a clause in the contract that if McGregor does any of that it will end costing him a lot of money.

That South African welter (Chris Van Something?) posted a video of him sparring McGregor on Twitter earlier.

McGregor very good at stopping jabs with his face.

McGregor has a very good counter left hand but he's very reliant on that. He's never really showed much of a jab and his right hook isn't much to shout home about.

I have to admit though- I still have a morbid interest in the fight. It will be interesting as to whether McGregor can land anything of note.

That vid was released some time ago. McGregor doesn't look impressive at all, footworks a mess.

Over 800k matched on Betfair already. Mostly big outfits laying off some of their initial action I'd imagine.

I think McGregor will give up / corner will throw in the towel early second half.

Connor has got to go for it in the opening rounds right? Lots of wild swings, trying to rag doll on the clinch, maybe a sneaky head or elbow...
Running out of gas, face swelling rapid, Floyd's picking up the pace..... Its only round 4 :o

I'm not suggesting McGregor will go MMA there obviously will be clauses in that, I'm just talking low blow/head butt type of DQ.

Conor's ego will get seriously damaged ( obviously sweetened by the serious money)

Well Dana was saying that I'd Conor pulled any crazy shit, he'd end up with a huge lawsuit and very likely end up losing a large amount of the purse he made.

Nothing could possibly put a dent in McGregor's ego. Certainly not this, losing to one of the greatest Boxers of all time in your pro debut? I'd think anyone could shrug that off easily enough.

this isn't a fight for aficionados of either sport ,this is a business decision based on two high profile people that happen to be involved in combat sports. i won't be buying it, but my brother will as he is part of the young instant gratification generation that are all about form over substance (22 years younger than me),so i will likely watch it live.
in terms of actual fights i would be more interested in mcgregor vs ferguson ,that will hopefully be mcgregors next fight or diaz at 155. i don't blame either of them for taking an opportunity to make a pile of cash and it is up to individuals what they spend their money on. hell people paid to watch shaq o'neal "fight" mosely and odh :OhYes:

As good as that left hand is, it's hard to envisage Mayweather getting timed even at 40.

McGregor v Ferguson was the fight to make. Shame really but the build up will be funny at least.
