I know there are people that want to write off this fight and say it's an embarrassment

How is it embarrassing for the sport of Boxing that a retired Boxer is about to come out of retirement and easily beat a 2 weight division World Champion in UFC in his athletic prime? This fight is for the "UFC Champions can kick anybody's ass" crowd, and anybody else that wants to watch just for the hell of it when Mayweather easily handles this guy.

It doesn't hurt the sport, doesn't help it either...it's just an event. The kind of event that isn't done that often.

In a way it evokes the early days of UFC. Boxer vs UFC Champion what's gonna happen?

Remember UFC 1? UFC 2?

Tae Kwon Do vs Wrestler...What's gonna happen?

Sumo vs Jiu Jitsu...What's gonna happen?

Kickboxing vs Sambo...What's gonna happen?

In a way this is reminiscent of that...I mean not for us. We all know what's gonna happen...but that's the way this event feels to the masses. Don't take it away from the poor schlubs, just sit back, crack open a beer, invite over all the MMA guys you know and see if you can make a friendly bet with 'em that Floyd wins.

It's just a one off event guys. The sky's not falling here. If it ain't your cup of tea don't buy it. Personally though I'm 100% confident in Floyd's victory as I'm sure most of us are, I can see the appeal of the fight to the general public. So I'm fine with both guys taking it, and who can blame them? Would you turn down the money on the table here if you were either guy?

I expect a strong undercard, jack/cleverly, Davis/farmer and something else solid.

Hopefully.

I didn't watch the Berto fight and never will. But the undercard was quality. Jack v Groves and Saildo v Martinez 2

I think Floyd might give him a walk around, either that or Mcregor gets DQ'd for a round house to the canister

Depends on what happens but there's a realistic chance that even to the most casual of fan he'll look absolutely clueless fairly quickly and be utterly outclassed after three or four rounds. It's not a good look.

Floyd won't care; as soon as the bell goes he's made his money so any thoughts of him carrying McGregor can be utterly discounted.

This fight is Mike Tyson/Peter McNeeley bad. That being said, I know a lot of casuals and they are surprised when I say that it's a mismatch. That's how obscure boxing is now. People have so little knowledge of it they think a drunken Irish wrassler can punch out an elite pro.

I find it profoundly depressing that it is being licensed. There was a time, not all that long ago, when this would have been an exhibition. When an old fat Muhammad Ali did 10 rounds with Lyle Alzado, it was strictly tongue in cheek, and very very unofficial. This is being sold to the public as a serious fight. I suppose they'll get what they deserve.

In fairness there are figths on boxrec of a boxer against a wrestler. I know Archie Moore has 1 or 2.

You'll do well to find an example of such a pairing that was sold to the public with a straight face.

Indeed, mcgregor will give it his all to win and mayweather isn't going to be complacent. This is being sold as a legit fight and will be treated as 1 by both men when the bell rings. I agree it shouldn't have been licensed.

"Oi went twelve rounds with the greatest of all toime, in muy ferst foight! Gimme a rematch and see what Oi'll do!"

And then they do it all again in 6 months for even sillier money. If I can see that scenario play out, do you think Money Mayweather hasn't? Maybe just me being cynical, but I would be deeply unsurprised if it happened.

To put a debutant with no amateur credentials into a 12 rounder against the supposed 'best ever' is absolutely disgusting in everything other than his pay packet. Ironically, he's probably safer in this fight than against a plethora of heavier hitters around the weight category, but regardless of that, it's a horrible prospect. If he gets ktfo are we meant to celebrate the fact?

Floyd is now a promoter so it's in his interest to do the sport a good turn here and shut this farce down within 4 rounds ideally less. The casuals are far more likely to check out his TMT undercard like Badou Jack and Gervonta Davis in their next fights if Mayweather properly puts MMA its place.

If Floyd wins every minute of every round I can't see a rematch. The novelty will have passed and it's a far harder sell without the what if intrigue that applies here in the eyes of some.

Floyd will KO CM with ease. He will send him into a ringpost like he did to ricky Hatton.

MMA fighters/punchers are used to having to launch attacks from distance to avoid being speared into the ground. FM will just time those lunges and counter until one does CM enough damage that the ref stops it.

I don't know those events Mr Mesh, but my own fear about this event is that so many non boxing fans bought the Mayweather Pacquiao PPV and it was a f*cking dud in terms of general excitement. It really hurt the sport. I still have people mention it to me.

For Mayweather to beat McGregor it has to be a dull fight (like most of his wins over the last decade). He doesn't take risk. He's a super smart, super talented fighter who doesn't care about how he looks, just winning - and fair play to the lad. He's f*cking rich

The world is so interconnected now that this could just be a massive black eye for all concerned.

I'm hoping that Mayweather completely outboxes McGregor for 3/4 rounds then McGregor knocks him out in some MMA manner, giving Mayweather the DQ win & MMA fans the chance to say "our sport is for tough guys"
