Tony Weeks: Incompetent or outright corrupt?

Post by Ricky_ »

I thought this guy was a decent referee.

WTF was that? That was 3 CLEAR SHOTS TO THE BALLS!!

The worst part is... even if they shots were legit it still wouldn't be enough to wave it off ffs.

Scandalous. Get fired, idiot.

Shouldn't have stopped the fight, bad stoppage.

:TU: , should have penalized for low blows, and if not then at least Kovalev get KO clean.

Disgraceful, Ward won by three low blows.

The more i see that replay the more scandalous it is.

That would be a piss poor stoppage even if the punches were illegal.

Kovalev should appeal like Hopkins did vs Chad Dawson to get that overruled.

The mind fcuk was, Weeks warned Ward early on for low blows, but he couldn't keep warning him as he would need to start deducting points. Thats how I have to reason it for there to be some sense made out of this disgrace.

Funny how the two main fights were marred by terrible officiating...could mean RN find it hard to get opponnts going forward

Look at that replay and tell us that wasn't low.

Most likely corrupt. Odds for Ward by KO were so low, that some people made a lot of money.

TW is looking right at it! He winces from a big shot to genitals and Weeks calls it off. For shame.

There were 2 more about 10 seconds before that stoppage.
8 unanswered low blows in the fight
I watched it back to count them.
Robbery. :-?

Fact is it was a low blow that should end it but if anyone questions it. A punch like that usually moves the cup, thats a hard plastic cup being punched into your balls. Thats why those shots are illegal and also debilertating.

I hope Ward does face Beterbiev so that Artur can blast his balls into outer space. Then we will see all the Ward supporters cry foul.

I saw the Las Vegas refs practicing this s--- in the prelims. That referee was like the 3 monkeys - he didn't see anything, hear anything, or say anything. All he knew was what they paid him to know, and that was make sure Ward wins. How many refs have I seen doing this s--- in LV? I'll never forget Joe Cortez in the Hatton-Mayweather fight. Hatton was fighting the both of them. Las Vegas, the crookedest city in the world, founded by OC and run by OC.

Ward's constant cheating in every fight is the reason I can't give him the respect he deserves as a fighter. He's great, exceptionally talented but how am I supposed to respect a guy who can't get the job done without illegal shots, lowblows, headbutts and who gets a pass for doing so from referees?

Shit like this, blatant corrupt robberies (Like Burns getting gifted a draw against Beltran a few years ago, McDonnell getting gifted a win last year and Perez getting blatantly robbed vs Hooker etc) kills my interest in the sport.

Kovalev was going to lose, no question. But that should have been a point off for Ward and Kovalev been given time to recover. I do think Ward would have stopped him legitimately in the next couple of rounds though.

Kovalev was ahead on points, or should have been if there weren't in-house Las Vegas judges scoring the fight.

Andre "Son of Golota" Ward.

If Golota had been American and Bowe from a foreign country, then Golota would have received a TKO win instead of a DQ.

No question about it, if the fight was in Las Vegas.

I only watched the replay of the endresult, it was sickening, Ward should have deducted a point like 3 times in 8 seconds for cheating in that timeframe alone. But it was expected, I mean, this is America?! The most corrupt boxing nation in the world!

Scandalous. Get fired, idiot.

They get refs with formerly good reps like Weeks here or Joe Cortez and many others, and they go to Las Vegas and the mob pays them enough and makes them "offers they can't refuse", and voila you get disgraceful performances like what you saw tonight.

The fight certainly shouldn't have been stopped at that point, if he didn't think they were low he should've just shouted out loud. They're not low, fight.

Kovalev was relying on help from the ref too much though. You gotta take matters into your own hands in there. When you look to the ref that's the kinda thing that can happen.
