Tasif Khan ranked by IBF

Post by Kennyboy »

Tasif Khan who is licensed by BIBA and not BBBofC has been ranked in IBF Intercontinental rankings. Just wondering if Boxrec will start listing BIBA fighters records now that one of the big 4 does?

Why would a reigning multi world champion be interested in boxing for an intercontinental championship....?

So he would be eligible to fight for ibf? Even though he doesn't hold a bbofc license. ?

Why do you need BBBofC license to fight for IBF title?

No, he couldn't.
Currently no BBBoC licensed boxer will be permitted to box a BIBA

Ok I'll rephrase it if a IBF title is fought on a BIBA show will Boxrec list the fight or not?

Ive just read this news on the BIBA FB page. So the IBF are ranking BIBA boxers now. This is good news for BIBA. I wonder if records of IBF fights will now be recorded on here or will boxrec remove all IBF fights?

Ok but will the IBF allow Tasif Khan to defend his title on UK soil if he were to win it? I bet the answer will be no as the IBF will have the BBBoC as the federation that covers IBF fights in the UK. Just like the EBU, Commonwealth etc when it comes to sanctioning their fights in the UK they use the BBBoC.

If that does happen and it is not some IBF knock off title like has been used on BIBA shows in the past then it will be big news. But until that happens it is all hear say and what ifs.

Why would they remove all IBF fights? the problem with BIBA at the minute is they are still a very small outfit with a very small minority of fighters and most of these fighters are either old past it fighters or ones that couldn't cut it against the BBBoC counterparts. Of course there might be one or 2 fighters that can actually fight at that level but imo they will always end up moving to the BBBoC unless BIBA can bite them real titles and not just WBU/WBF etc

David let's use World Boxing Foundation Boxrec recognise that as a title but only list certain fights on here, think they still have Steve Martin as Welterweight Champion but we both know someone else won that title in Aberdeen ;-)

Also IBF allow IBF titles tonne fought for in Germany on shows sanctioned by the Austrian Boxing Federation

Why would IBF not allow him defend on UK soil, IBF recognise BIBA license

Where is the proof that the IBF recognise BIBA? They will be recognising the fighters that Tasif Khan has beat rather than who he is licensed with. Do the IBF even know who he is actually licensed with?

My point is that the IBF has a great working relationship with the BBBoC and would they jeopardise that relationship for 1 or 2 shows sanctioned under BIBA? Maybe they will but until I actually see an IBF fight on a BIBA show in the UK then I think I am right to be sceptical on this matter.

Tbh although my brother won that title in Aberdeen I really don't think it proves anything either way just that Boxrec have decided that BIBA results aren't posted on their record database, I support what my brother does as my brother but I don't agree with him boxing under the BIBA banner. His choice but imo he could offer so much more on BBBoC shows and i hope that he realises that soon and comes back over.

So why does he choose to do so? What reason does he give to fight for another sanctioning body other than BBBoC?

There are reasons for everything so im sure as you are his bro you will know the reason. I'm actually glad that some decent boxer is supporting BIBA that shows me at least he is happy doing what he's doing. Good luck to the fella and I hope he gets a crack at the IBF world title at somepoint and does it under the BIBA banner too.

He is a long way from being in a position to challenge for an IBF world championship.
Also, IBF sanction fees are out of reach of the current BIBA shows. Either BIBA will need to grow significantly first or a boxer/their family will need to take the financial hit to pay for the chance.

Whatever lee's motives are doesn't mean i have to agree with them, I know the reason why he chose a BIBA license and as I have said I will support him as my brother but been to 2 shows now and I'm not changing my stance on which I'd rather be involved in. People involved in BIBA will always want to big it up and that is their right and i respect that but from what i have witnessed first hand BIBA is a million miles away from competing with the BBBoC for the top talent in the UK boxing scene.
