If he took a knee, the ref would have ruled it a knockdown because he did not consider the punches as low blows.
So? He would have had time to recover and not get stopped.
Yeah, he would have had less than ten seconds. Don't they get five minutes if the ref pauses the fight for a low blow?

10 seconds to recover and then Ward would be allowed to throw more low blows. He wanted the ref to react to low blows.
8 seconds, but whatever.

You're assuming Ward was intentionally throwing low blows? Why would he, he had Kovalev hurt and ready to go. Why would he intentionally risk a DQ or time for Kovalev to recover. It's nonsensical.

Yes, assuming they're called or seen.

Ward said that they were borderline low blows. He admitted it and he did it repeatedly.

The crooks lost any shame. NAC commissioner forces a ref in the previous fight to change his call in front of cameras, and then lies in front of the same cameras. Weeks allows Ward to keep nut cracking, and Ward even admits that publicly.

Kovalev looked off the entire fight.
Even if the fight continued, he wasn't going to last 12 ... you know it.

I don't know what fight Lederman was watching.
He keeps talking about who's "coming forward" and who he thinks is punching harder. (PROVEN WRONG)

Ward did his thing and Kovalev is still a top fighter.

It's really hard to believe that on a boxing forum, full of dedicated boxing fans, there is a line of thinking that a referee, standing 2 meters away, shouldn't be held accountable for missing blatant low blows. If the referee is incapable of seeing shots that land below the belt then replace him with someone who can. Again, it's not rocket science.
He is bent over double. Kovalev does not react to them being low. You cannot expect a referee to make a call when he can't be sure. It was physically impossible for him to see where those shots landed where he was and how Kovalev was stood.

Ask yourself why didn't Kovalev just take the knee?
The same reason his former teammate Korobov didn't against Lee -- they have never been taught that.
Krusher was spared being left in a heap of ground up human flesh by round 11. Weeks did the Russian whiner a large favor.

"Ward's dirty!"

"The judges are corrupt!"

"The ref is blind and paid off!"

"Russian traners are inadequate!"

Krusher got out boxed, out thought, out punched, and out fought. He was saved by the ref. He was in the process of being completely beaten to a pulp.

I am disappointed that Weeks didn't give him an eight count AND penalize SOGgy. It would have made the inevitable beatdown of the Russian Whiner that much sweeter in front of his incessantly whining fans.

The superior fighter won. SOGgy is more skilled, gifted, intelligent and tough than your Russian Whiner. All that stereotypical Russian bigoted, tough talk got beat the fvck out of the Russian Whiner last night.

The vaunted Krusher was beaten by the better and tougher man last night. :OhYes:

How can you have such a fundamental misunderstanding of the rules of boxing?

What an impartial ref would do is penalize Ward for one of low blows at the beginning of the round to discourage him to land more.

Come on man. This nonsense is everywhere, making this into some USA/Russia race thing.
I don't believe in countries or race, maybe you should have also gotten that sentiment from my posts ... especially when I say it directly.

That being said,
I think this is a situation where the fans wanted to fight more than the fighter.
Most of the punches were on Kovalev's white beltline.

The last one that everyone is showing was in that soft area between your stomach and the top of your pubic hair.
It was not a direct shot to the balls, not even close.

But whatever ... land now called USA and land now called Russia and people now called white and people now called black.

At the beginning of the fight...the ref told him that punches on the belt line weren't low. When you can't see the fighter's belly button....punches near the top of the trunks aren't low.

As OP said.....your boy got beat.

When you suspect the referee's are against you in this business as Kovalev clearly should've after the way the 1st fight went. You don't look to the referee for help, if the guy hits you in the balls hit him back in the balls. That's what he should've done. He looked for help and it costs him the fight. For the record this would always be my advice to my fighters whether they were the visiting fighter or not.

Don't ever look to the referee for help. If the guy does some dirty sh*t to you do it back to him harder.

Can someone gif 1:48 - 1:45 of round 8?

Those were the two body shots that started the end.
Malinaggi, who called a Ward punch from the earlier round low,
said they were both legal punches as they were landing.

They were both to the white of Kovalev's trunks.
The second one looked like a liver shot.

Have you read my posts? I'm a Kovalev fan, but I'd say I observe the situation pretty much as objectively as it could be viewed. I put the ending as much on Kovalev as I do on the referee.
