I am done with this sport!

Post by Baby Face Finster »

It simply refuses to be fair and impartial. I've been watching it for 40 years but tonight was the last straw. I'm done with the repeated home town robberies and the biased and incompetent refs and judges.

Can a mod please erase my account. Thank you.

Keep your account and post in the "Off Topic" section.

There are some good conversations there.

But I agree, and I'm not following boxing anymore. Too much obvious corruption.

Don't blame you. Might as well watch wrestling. They don't really pretend to be an actual honest sport there. They call wrestling "sports entertainment" and that's what they should call boxing too.

For all the controversies, and all the heartaches to come...I'll always be a fan of the Sweet Science until they put me in the ground. I've gotten disgusted by the sport before, and I will again, but I can never walk away.

I'm also done with boxing, I didn't even bother watching the fight tonight, just caught the highlights on youtube.

Boxing is almost not a real sport anymore, its become more of a "sports entertainment". It seems like every card has about half of the fights being robberies literally. Boxing fans expect robberies. There are way too many bad decisions in this sport and the truth is they are racially, nationally, and promoter-specific related. They're not "bad judges", they're corrupt judges more honestly.

The sport has no credibility whatsoever, from bad decisions, to illegal tactics going unpunished as we saw tonight, to discrepancies on how it deals with fighters who test positive for PED's, to biased announcers, to fighters with connections getting more chances than others.

I now understand why boxing is a dead sport and why it faded so much in popularity in the last 20 or 30 years. A lot of that is because it is a corrupt sport and people don't wanna see that sh1t.

Boxing does have a decent following in parts of Europe still, but even there it is a fading sport, and in North America it is a dead sport. Ward was just called by Kellerman as P4P #1, I bet you 99.9% of Americans wouldnt even recognize him. Its a dead sport with no future, straight up. Wards own promoter actually loses money when he fights in the sense that they pay his wage and cannot even recuperate that money back from the fans or PPV buyers.

Its a sh1t sport and thats why its a dead sport.

Watch it like you do wrasslin. I do. If I ever see an honest decision in a high profile fight I'm shocked. If I ever saw an honest ref and judges - or the latest Las Vegas scam, Doc Goodman and her traveling troupe of drug testing extortionists - in Las Vegas I think I would faint. The LV refs and were even practicing their act in the prelims tonight.

To be honest Ive totally walked away from the sport at this point, just way too corrupt with no sort of credibility whatsoever. Its pretty much the same sh1t as WWE wrestling with Vince McMahon at this point (sh1tty decisions and outright robberies, guys getting TKO'd by getting punched in the balls, MMA fighters who are 0-0 as a boxer VS Mayweather). This sport has become a bad joke and belongs in the garbage can.

I'll watch it as Boxing. I can appreciate a bit of wrasslin' too, but I like Boxing for it's own reasons and am a much bigger fan of it. Tonight was definitely a f*cky ending. Strange, but life goes on, and the sport does too.

Funny, the 15 low blows Loma took from Salido + no punishment for Salido for refereeing incompetence + robbery loss, nobody cries.

My judging today. Kovalev winner by dq over ward!

I was thinking of watching more WWE. At least you know what you're getting. It's choreographed fighting with results agreed upon beforehand. I like MMA too. I decided not to watch Ward vs. Kovalev, so I am just reading what happened on BoxRec. It is not surprising to me. Boxing is definitely not what it was when I became a fan 30 years ago. If it was like this, I probably would not have become a fan. It is getting harder and harder to defend as a sport. I am also sick of the non-news that is so pervasive on certain websites. There are hardly any real boxing writers anymore. Mostly I read articles with spelling/grammatical errors and idiotic/biased opinions. Videos are taking over the boxing news. Anyone can hold a camera and talk to someone if they have opportunities to. Writers and most videographers cannot make any money from doing it. They do it for the love of the sport, but if that love is fading, then I see less and less people wanting to spend their time and money to cover the sport.

Man, I have never seen so many titty babies in one place before. I guess I didn't realize there was so much anti-American sentiment here, and underestimated the amount of hate for Ward.

Anyway, for those of you that are done with the sport, don't let the door hit you on the ass on your way out. :box:
