Ward would be too much for GGG.
Re: Although I'm a fan of Golovkin, Ward would tear him apart like a rag doll
Yes, but, honestly speaking, Ward is too big for GGG. Simply, they are not the same weight division.apollo creed wrote:Ward would be too much for GGG.

They're 2 weight classes apart. Who cares?
Re: Although I'm a fan of Golovkin, Ward would tear him apart like a rag doll
GGG isn't big enough to beat Ward.
Re: Although I'm a fan of Golovkin, Ward would tear him apart like a rag doll
Anthony Joshua would KO Adonis Stevenson...that's right you heard it here folks, I'm predicting that the much bigger man with the height and weight advantage would easily KO the guy from 2 weight divisions below him. I'll bet you all needed my expertise to know this is how that matchup would go.

175lb vs 160lb isn't the same as 250lb vs 175lb. I'd give GGG a very good chance of beating Andre Ward, though I agree Ward should be favourite. For the record, Ward is only 1.5 inches taller than GGG with 1 inch longer reach and is probably about 10lb heavier on fight night.gilgamesh wrote:Anthony Joshua would KO Adonis Stevenson...that's right you heard it here folks, I'm predicting that the much bigger man with the height and weight advantage would easily KO the guy from 2 weight divisions below him. GGG is too heavy handed, with too slick a jab for Ward -- and he's too damned tough... He legitimately floored Kovalev and intimidated him.
In a fair fight that's well officiated Kovalev beats Ward.

I just think anyone, anyone has a very tough time with Ward. How do you even train for him. For years you have been training to throw punches, to block punches, to have a stance and then this wildcard comes in who, if he can't outbox you, tackles you, moves your body with his head, comes at you with his body as low as your waist smashing into you, smouthering you, grabbing you and punching you. Plus he's very strong and blatantly dirty, actually trains to fight like this. He's a handful to say the least. It's hybrid boxing. God I hope it doesnt turn into this, the sport i mean, if this is our new pfp1. I hope no one is inspired by it. I'm just glad hes not more popular. Just would like him to retire. At this time I dont want to see a 3rd Kovalev fight or a Golovkin fight or anything involving Ward, other than him maybe fighting Anthony Joshua lol. They called it. Why? Because I want to see Ward beat, maybe, but the other reason, there is no way Ward could push AJ around, he could stay away, use his boxing skills, but there is no way that hybrid boxing/mma tactics work on a 6,6 250 pound giant.

Golovkin would be outweighed by a solid 15 pounds and Ward is the trickier fighter to boot. It would be competitive but Ward would win going away.
Ward has to fight the Stevenson/Alvarez winner. Anything else is a waste of time.

I think bivol and gvodzyk both look better than Stevenson or Alvarez.

Bivol needs time. He's only 26 and his opponents have been weak. But he could definitely get there in a couple of years.
Gvozdyk is much closer to the finished product and would be more interesting. But I'd still like to see him in there with someone better than Chilemba first.

I don't get the ongoing GGG-Ward obsession. They've never campaigned in the same division and now there is two between them. The fight isn't going to happen....
OP's threads about Canelo beating GGG are more relevant

I don't get it either. I never at any point had any interest in seeing that fight.crusader wrote:I don't get the ongoing GGG-Ward obsession. They've never campaigned in the same division and now there is two between them. The fight isn't going to happen....

I think a lot of people who go on about the fight just want to see GGG lose
Re: Although I'm a fan of Golovkin, Ward would tear him apart like a rag doll
Seems that way.crusader wrote:I think a lot of people who go on about the fight just want to see GGG lose
I'd like to see Andre Ward lose, but I'm not calling to see him vs Deontay Wilder or whatever. I tend to just focus on matchups with guys in the same weight class, or sometimes the very next weight class up, but only then if it's obvious that the guy IS going to be moving up at some point or has already mentioned that he plans to do so.
GGG was just trying to get any big name when he was saying he'd take any fight from 154 to 168...now that he's finally getting the big superfight at his best fighting weight of 160 I doubt we ever see him move up in weight...why would he? He's clearly a natural Middleweight.

Kovalev's punch variety is poorer than Golovkin's. He barely throws any uppercuts and even hooks. Besides, Kovalev's balance is worse than Golovkin's. Of course that all could be compensated by huge size difference.
One common weakness of Kovalev and Golovkin is that they are not as skillful in low blows, head butts and other dirty stuff as Ward, not even close.

They should correct these flaws in their game thenboxing_rocks wrote:Kovalev's punch variety is poorer than Golovkin's. He barely throws any uppercuts and even hooks. Besides, Kovalev's balance is worse than Golovkin's. Of course that all could be compensated by huge size difference.

HBO, Sanchez and Golovkin created the Ward-GGG fictional rivalry, when they kept mentioning Andre's name during interviews.crusader wrote:I don't get the ongoing GGG-Ward obsession. They've never campaigned in the same division and now there is two between them. The fight isn't going to happen....

Ward approached Tom Loeffler face-to-face and told him to either stop mentioning him or offer him an opportunity to face Golovkin... this was confirmed by both men, which led to the K2 boss subsequently stopping discussing Ward as a potential opponent for GGG, because the financial rewards for such a fight were insufficient.
Re: Although I'm a fan of Golovkin, Ward would tear him apart like a rag doll
So in a real fight, where there are no refs to protect you, then Ward has an even easier time beating the so called big bad Russian since he can't handle the rough stuff huh?boxing_rocks wrote:Kovalev's punch variety is poorer than Golovkin's. Who knows. You may be right here. SOGgy would grind him into pylmini filling. But you all know that of course.
