Rigo vs Loma at 126
http://www.BS.com/rigondeaux-r ... ht--117708
Is Loma still capable to comfortably make 126? Will RNS and Arum be able to agree on terms?

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
I doubt Loma can make 126 without killing himself. I doubt Rigo can go up to 128 without been too little. Will not happen. It should not happen. As I said I want see Rigo go down in weight rather then move up.

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
Lomachenko would win fairly easily. He's got every bit as much skill, plus he's bigger and younger. I'm sure he could still make 126 but why would he bother?
How about Rigo actually fight someone good at 122, instead of the lineup of overmatched nobodies he's been facing for the last 4 years? If Top Rank is willing to work with Rigo, why not Rigo/Magdaleno?

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
I would like to see this bout. The size difference might be too big... Too much advantage for Loma if they go catch weight over 126. Under that Loma would pretty much need to kill himself to make the weight.
That would be insane amount of skill for one ring
Who would be the A side?

The problem is, Top Rank isn't willing to work with Rigo. Here is what Arum had to say last November.

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
Rigo is too tiny for 126, I think his natural division is 118, and his chin is too weak. Loma would destroy him, but I would not like to see this match happen. Loma vs M. Garcia at 135 would be wonderful.

Then I guess overmatched nobodies is about all we can hope for.Badhusker wrote:jujigatame wrote:Lomachenko would win fairly easily. He's got every bit as much skill, plus he's bigger and younger. I'm sure he could still make 126 but why would he bother?

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
I think Rigondeaux is the better defensive fighter out of the two whereas Lomachenko is also very elusive but more offensive minded. That said, I think Lomachenko is just too big for Rigondeaux. Rigo is also 36 years of age now.
Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
Loma is younger, bigger, stronger, with a solid chin.....
Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
Loma has too many better options out there to worry about this. He'd beat Rigo, but it won't happen.
Rigo's days of P4P ranking consideration are just about numbered anyway I think. He's barely active, and basically his entire reputation is built off of 1 fight 4 years ago, over a guy that hasn't exactly set the world on fire since.

Thing is, when Rigo does get caught it's often with eye-catching shots that drop or hurt him.IT wrote:I think Rigondeaux is the better defensive fighter out of the two whereas Lomachenko is also very elusive but more offensive minded. Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
I was at the '07 Pan Am Games in Rio. At the weigh-ins, Rigo needed every minute from start to end of the weigh-ins to make 119. He barely made it with seconds to go and looked really drawn. He went on to defect there after his 1st fight, got caught and sent back to Cuba before he finally defected for good to the US.
I thought when this guy turns pro away from the strict regime of the Cuban boxing team, he will go up to like 130. I am amazed that he fights pro at 122. He still looks skinny and could probably move up no problem but maybe just feels more comfortable at the lower weight.

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
Loma won´t go down to 126 again. And at 130 Vasyl is pretty big compared to Rigo. Anyway, Rigondeaux resume in last years is bad, and what is even worse is that his fights did not attract fans. IMO Rigo can beat everyone in 122 and 126, but not Loma.
Edit: if he wanna go at big stage before retiring, fights with Santa Cruz, Frampton and Russell will bring him money, belts and at the end of the day, maybe place in HoF, because he can easily defeat these 3.

Pernell got knocked down the odd time in a similar fashion IMOcrusader wrote:Thing is, when Rigo does get caught it's often with eye-catching shots that drop or hurt him.IT wrote:I think Rigondeaux is the better defensive fighter out of the two whereas Lomachenko is also very elusive but more offensive minded. Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
Yeah but Lomachenko tends to have his gloves pinned to his head which negates those kind of spectacular knock downs from occurring.crusader wrote:Thing is, when Rigo does get caught it's often with eye-catching shots that drop or hurt him.IT wrote:I think Rigondeaux is the better defensive fighter out of the two whereas Lomachenko is also very elusive but more offensive minded. Loma vs M. Garcia at 135 is much more realistic, and would be competitive.

If Loma doesn't have his gloves high his opponent needs to be careful as he's probably baiting a shot to counter offIT wrote:Yeah but Lomachenko tends to have his gloves pinned to his head which negates those kind of spectacular knock downs from occurring.crusader wrote:Thing is, when Rigo does get caught it's often with eye-catching shots that drop or hurt him.IT wrote:I think Rigondeaux is the better defensive fighter out of the two whereas Lomachenko is also very elusive but more offensive minded. Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
I voted Loma but I suppose won't happen is the correct vote.
Both exceptional but rigo older and smaller as already covered.
Loma vs Garcia is the fight I liked but now garcias at 140 that fight isn't close either

Garcia will be going back to 135. If he stays he will have to fight Crawford.Ossyrules wrote:I voted Loma but I suppose won't happen is the correct vote.

It won't happen in my opinion. I would love for it to be made.
If it did get made, I would have Loma as a big favourite.

Re: Rigo vs Loma at 126
I dont see this one happening since Loma is very unlikely to move back down to 126 and Rigo is very unlikely to jump 2 divisions to 130!!
At 126 I would slightly favor Rigo over a drained Loma, but would clearly favor Loma at 130 since he is the naturally bigger man (both taller and bigger frame). Time is on Loma's side as well since he's 7 years younger than Rigo's 36.

If they made weight comfortably it definitely buys the winner P4P juice big.

Without any knowledge I thought Rigo was on that card to be showcased for a possible fight with Loma...Evander wrote:If they made weight comfortably it definitely buys the winner P4P juice big.
