Frank Bruno's eye operation
Just read the 1982 chapter in Bunce's new book.
He writes about how Bruno had to have an eye operation which we all know about.
Then Buncey writes: Bruno had to go to Colombia at 19 on his own to get the eye fixed. There has always been an alternative to this story. One that will never be printed.
WTF does that mean / imply ?

I remember that at the time. People wondering why a 'less advanced' Country specialised in this, and the answer being something about Nazis settling there who had practised on Jewish people. Bit odd, all round.

That's just bizarre. The 80s eh. Weird time.King Tubby wrote:I remember that at the time. People wondering why a 'less advanced' Country specialised in this, and the answer being something about Nazis settling there who had practised on Jewish people. Bit odd, all round.
Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
There's another bit where he's describing Bruno crossing himself before the Tyson rematch and he just says if I told you the reason I'd be sued!
Any idea what he's alluding to there?

I heard it was something to do with tyson big entourage,i remember hearing they were threatening bruno before the fight, dont know how true that is though just something i heard back in 96revporl wrote:There's another bit where he's describing Bruno crossing himself before the Tyson rematch and he just says if I told you the reason I'd be sued!

Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
Frank's own account of the trip is probably a better read. I'm not a big fan of those veiled references, either come out with it or keep it shut
Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
What it is mr blobby thinks he is so important and wants people to think he knows the ins and outs of everything in boxing when truth is if he knew,he would print it. truth is he doesnt know an alternative story and he doesnt know why bruno crossed himself before the tyson rematch. Why tell a f*ckin story if your not gonna tell the end the fat b*stard does my head in.nobleart1978 wrote:Just read the 1982 chapter in Bunce's new book.

I know what Bunce is referring to in every one of the OP's examples.
But I can't reveal my sources. Or explain why I can't reveal my sources. Or give any facts. Or really say anything. I am sure you understand....

Bruno was actually a secret undercover operative working for Mossad tracking down Nazi war criminals in South America. The phrase 'you know what I mean Harry' was actually code for his handlers to signal another successnobleart1978 wrote:Just read the 1982 chapter in Bunce's new book.

Just don't ask me how I know that *taps nose*

When he was in the midst of one of his psychotic episodes, there's a reasonable chance he might have believed that at one point lol.

The story in his first book is brilliant.
I asked him about when I hosted an evening with event last year, but can't quite remember his answer. I know there was something about how dodgy the folk were that ended up meeting.

Ah, good old Buncey and his "if I told you I'd have to kill you" routine, it never gets old. There's nothing that isn't annoying about this man, from his faux 'man of the people' act, through to his boorish, overbearing presenting style and to the way that he used to sign off every single post he made on boxing forums with the one word of Spanish he knows...

Frank knew that Tyson was going to wipe him out again in brutal style. He had also no doubt been spooked by Mikes entourage which included nation of Islam henchmen, the rapper 2pac andthechump wrote:I heard it was something to do with tyson big entourage,i remember hearing they were threatening bruno before the fight, dont know how true that is though just something i heard back in 96revporl wrote:There's another bit where he's describing Bruno crossing himself before the Tyson rematch and he just says if I told you the reason I'd be sued!

Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
So does the book actually give you any info., or does he just allude to it?
Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
It's quite possible the eye operation was in Colombia because the actual procedure wouldn't be attempted in this country. Once it was complete he'd have to satisfy the Board that the retina was repaired. I wonder if they simply accepted the report from the Colombian surgeon or if a British eye surgeon was required to examine him?
Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
I am not sure if this has been mentioned but there was a dispute between Terry Lawless and Burt McCarthy as to who had legally signed Bruno; the dispute dragged on as it went through the courts. Lawless got the nod.

Re: Frank Bruno's eye operation
So it's worthless then if you want to learn anything, but still allows him to show off he's in the know, and people in the know can read it a jerk off to how in the know they are.Bricks wrote:he just nudge, winks, and fartsBitPlayer wrote:So does the book actually give you any info., or does he just allude to it?
