Odds today -
Joshua = 19/29
Fury = 23/10
Joshua = 19/29
Fury = 23/10
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
Yeah but Ali was able to back up that win with a dozen world title defences. I'm sure there was some people at the time that perhaps suggested there was an element of fluke about Ali's achievements at the time, but because it was backed up, nobody questions it. Also, Fury was so much long odds against Wlad, it was unexpected. Going into that George Foreman fight, Ali was already world champion, and had 40+ fights under his belt.hagler81 wrote:We all have our opinions. Fury will do the same to AJ. I don't recall too many people calling Ali's win over Foreman a fluke. They said the rope a dope was genius. Because it was Ali. Fury has his detractors as now does AJ, it makes an interesting fight but I see Fury winning, just not sure he is the best Heavy in the division.

Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
Yep true. And at the end of the day, Fury stunk the joint out, barely landed a notable punch all night and scraped through on an extremely tight points decision. Joshua may have struggled more, but that's because he came out and had a proper fight, scored 3 knockdowns and didn't need to rely on the judges.dirk2686 wrote:Different sort of fight though. Styles make them; I had Floyd winning a shutout against Canelo and scraping barely past Maidana in a fight that really could have been a draw. I still think prime Canelo absolutely destroys prime Maidana.CiganoBoxer wrote:After last night big Tyson couldn't of seen better motivation to get back in shape ,i had AJ down by 2 rounds busting a gut when he stopped Wlad , fury weather you like how he fights or not made it look much easier and against bigger odds stacked against him to .
Wlad was either going to have to end up throwing shots at Joshua or just caving in. Fury was never going to try and get rid of Wlad so it ends up a totally different fight. But the big questions regarding Joshua, (chin, ability to recover when hurt, engine) now have far more positives about them. The issue for Joshua last night was Wlad's power and he took it; Fury may be many things but he's absolutely nowhere near as powerful as Wlad.

Not that they tell the full story by any means, but the punch stats for Joshua Klitschko provide an interesting contrast to the Wlad Fury fight.
Wlad was clearly fighting a very different fight. He threw 137 power punches in ten and a bit rounds compared to the 69 he threw against Fury.

A very interesting read. I think it also shows that overall, Joshua probably justified edging the first 10 rounds on points.dirk2686 wrote:Not that they tell the full story by any means, but the punch stats for Joshua Klitschko provide an interesting contrast to the Wlad Fury fight.

How much of that was due to Fury constantly moving against Wlad and the latter not being able to set himself against Fury to throw though?dirk2686 wrote:Not that they tell the full story by any means, but the punch stats for Joshua Klitschko provide an interesting contrast to the Wlad Fury fight.

Fury-Klitschko kinda reminded me of Crawford-Postol. Crawford did it in better fashion but those Ukrainian-eastern european jab heavy styles dont tend to fare well against a moving target.

Good point. Also against switch-hitting/southpaws. I predicted Crawford would take Postols jab away from him that wayIT wrote:Fury-Klitschko kinda reminded me of Crawford-Postol. I say it every time a jab-first dude fights a southpaw. They pretty much all look awful. Burns looks like someone three levels lower than he is/was.
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
Im guessing it depends on the type of southpaw aswell? Im thinking back to when Wlad fought Chagaev for instance. He didnt have much trouble there.Counter-puncher wrote:I say it every time a jab-first dude fights a southpaw. They pretty much all look awful. Joshua will kick Fury's ass.....Fury is a professional and a beast boxer but Joshua is better and more stronger...i think the match between them will last until round 6!!!...GLORYJoshua

People still expected Foreman to destory Ali.Rob3_142 wrote:Yeah but Ali was able to back up that win with a dozen world title defences. Well I did think Fury was going to win, but this excellent argument has changed my mind.kostandinooo wrote:Joshua will kick Fury's ass.....Fury is a professional and a beast boxer but Joshua is better and more stronger...i think the match between them will last until round 6!!!...GLORYJoshua

I think George was like a 3/1 favorite, Liston was a much bigger upset.

Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
These call outs are a bit silly, Joshua has made it clear he wants the fight, he's waiting for Fury to get match fit.wesshaw1985 wrote:https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=o0ymufFXFr8
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
If the question was who wins if they fight now, then obviously it's Joshua. If Fury can get back to being the man who beat Klitschko, that's a different matter. But right now, that man's a distant memory.
Re: WHO WINS? Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua
Hard for me not to go with AJ given what's happened to Fury.

Furys paranoia not easing up.
